Ruiz is a good opponent who is around Whytes level. I'd prefer Whyte/Fury myself as I think it would be a better fight with a much higher chance for a KO. Needless to say if this goes through and he gets the AJ/Usyk winner at the end of the year, I'd be pretty happy.

Seriously though WTF is Whyte doing? He been a pawn this whole time and now Hearn is trying to manipulate the situation again. Whyte should just **** him off for this fight surley?

Weird isn’t it, like he daren't stand on his own 2 feet. Surely he can see that if he just went it alone he’d be able to get the fight done.

The thing is tho how much does hearn actually take from the pot. I think he can make him more than he takes hence why hes not been all that fussed for getting everyone locked into airtight contracts with the exception of joshua. Otherwise whyte would have probably went it alone by now.

Not saying he beats Fury , because he probably doesn’t what can’t be denied though is Fury doesn’t fancy the Whyte fight at all.

A year ago Fury tried to fight Kabayel instead of Wilder and they didnt let him. Now a year later he is trying to fight Helenius or Ruiz or someone other than Whyte. Will they strip him this time? And the funny part is, almost none of you guys are seeing the pattern. Fury squeezed in a couple of bums in between the Wilder fights too. The difference this time is, Fury has the WBC belt and his mandatory is up. So again, they are doing everything they can to avoid Whyte because Whyte may end up KOing Fury and ruining that unification fight. And Arum wants you to believe that Fury can simply ignore the WBC ruling and defend one of his imaginary belts instead.

Based on what exactly? This all looks like the usual boring negotiating process to me.

Without sounding like Mitch, if you’re the so called ‘greatest fighter to have ever lived’ according to the Fury clan, you can’t be fighting Robert Helenius.

Failed drugs tests, 3 years out the ring, court rulings, numerous pull outs, no British license and now not defending belts - not a good look.

Agreed. I can understand the Ruiz fight, and on paper it's a pretty good one (especially if you add in the Joshua narrative there). Helenius would be ridiculous - I can see why he might want a keep busy fight if the Whyte arbitration process takes a while, but at this stage of his career it needs to be someone decent.

    “not a good look”

Weird thing to say. Are you his mother or his sponsor? Unless you’ve invested considerably then why would any of that matter to a fan?

everything you’ve just mentioned is irrelevant. It’s about the best fighting the best and nothing else matters.

I imagine it's more about what Hearn has promised him after the Fury fight mate. Yes, he could get the Fury fight done somewhere else, but after he takes his pasting and over-inflated purse, what then? You know Eddie would already be spinning the next story and conning everyone into paying for it. I imagine Hearn has already laid out a plan for years to come..

It's outrageous that helenius is a possibility.

How Arum can mention him as an opponent and keep a straight face says it all.

That's the whole point. Fury (who is supposed to be the best) isn't fighting the best, or even someone remotely close to being the best.

And perspective is everything when it comes to an entertainment driven sport like boxing.
Back when Tyson was seen as "the man" after beating Tucker, it was all about him looking the best and being accepted as being the best, fighting everyone put in front of him and beating them. He wasn't the actual champion (despite having all relevant belts), but everyone saw him as the champ due to perspective.
Then think back at the Lewis/Bowe situation, a good look is what counts.

Who is trying to duck this fight? Whyte or Fury?
