Yes I know he’s not top tier which is why I say he’s not good enough to be fighting fury, I just mean he’s a decent also ran outside of the top fighters. I’m not really into the whole everyone outside the top five is a “pudding, bum” etc

I'd go further: Ruiz isn't even as dangerous an opponent as Helenius, who is vastly taller and longer, a much bigger puncher, less flatfooted and probably more skilled, coming off two far better performances back to back. And despite his past problems, Helenius is almost certainly more disciplined than the inactive, injury prone and very wealthy ex-champ Ruiz these days.

But according to the ranking agencies, Ruiz is the better win. He's also inarguably the most accomplished opponent historically as he demolished AJ and made him quit in 7. And doing a Chisora 2 on Ruiz or KO/TKO'ing him is a direct attack on the weakest part of AJ's resume, as there has been an intense Matchroom propaganda campaign to portray Ruiz as a supremely skilled dynamite puncher with a granite chin. "Pillow fist" Fury can very easily pop that balloon and I'm sure he'd enjoy relegating AJ further. It would serve another purpose in adding to AJ's depression before the Usyk rematch. It would also be hilarious to watch, the biggest stylistic mismatch in the division.

Ruiz is a much better fighter than Whyte but I can’t see fury taking either. Helenius type guy or Pulev type will be his opponent.

I like fury but for the supposed number 1 heavy on the planet his record is pretty thin. His record will be brought into serious question if Wilder gets KOd in his next fight too.

I don’t really rate Ruiz much and I would probably lean towards Whyte if those two fought, but in the context of Fury’s career it would be a really good win for him. In his 13 year career Ruiz would be at least his 3rd best opponent, and an argument could be made that he’s better and more accomplished than Wilder.

Helanius would be an embarrassing choice, I would back Chisora to beat him.

It's unbelievable how so many have no issue with Fury ducking his mandatory.

Purse bids exist for a reason. So simply let it go to purse bids rather than somehow justifying Fury swerving his mandatorily defence.

If AJ ducked his mandatory in Usyuk there would have been a nobody on here justifying it.

Why is it whenever AJ had a mandatory defence the deals got done and fights were made yet Fury on his first mandatory defense is trying to look for reasons to not make the fight?

The WBC are a disgrace for even contemplating allowing Fury to skip the Whyte fight.

I find the hypocrisy in these threads quite funny. AJ was going through the same situation and all he got accused of was ducking fighters and now they want fury to avoid whyte. Keep the same energy

Fury and Whyte are both a waste of time. For his faults Joshua has never had to go through an arbitration for trying to skip fights.

    I hope to **** it isn't Helenius

However I would be happy to see Ruiz..... and it would be a hungry Ruiz as well under Reynoso not the partying pudding we saw AJ fight in the rematch.

Exactly. AJ not giving wilder anything but 50% was a duck according to this place yet we now have Fury demanding an 80-20 split and people actually support it. The hypocrisy is ridiculous.

Any mandatory AJ had his opponents got more money than they probably deserved but you know what he got the mandatory defences made with no need for purse bids. His opponents got the terms agreeable to them.

Team Fury are not even trying negotiate Whyte to a lesser agreeable number. They are just saying no to Whyte's alleged demand and then moving to another opponent. He shouldn't be allowed to skip mandatory defences like this.

And after the fight they all carried you round your hometown on their shoulders wearing a crown they'd had made for you.

Usyk got 3m for fighting Joshua. Whyte has turned down 5m.

I wouldn't be able to stop laughing if Helenius somehow scores the upset of the year.
