Brilliant.Fury is classed as semi retired since 2019 for having only 5 fights (not counting Shwartz/Ngannou) so won’t be missed but Usyk is a fighting man and has had wait for it,5 Heavyweight fights himself since 2019 and in just over 3 years made 1 mandatory fight. We want active Champions so which one is more active Lol.

I gotcha now, for some reason you saying Lennox was gifted the belt only because he was already the mandatory went over my head. Mea culpa.

On that note, was Lennox Lewis the last time a champion was elevated to championship status without having an interim belt? Well, other than Charr being reappointed the Regular champion as part of that settlement, I guess. Glad that isn't a trend that caught on, talk about being an E-mail champ. Then again I should maybe knock on wood considering the Charr thing just happened two months ago. It was a unique circumstance and the result of a settlement, but you never know what the orgs will think to do next

The WBC is having their convention in another week or two, and last I heard they were gonna be ordering a new final eliminator there. Hopefully the mandatory spot being on the line (or a vacant belt on the very off chance Fury does vacate) finally gives enough incentive for the Joshua-Wilder fight to happen, though I cannot stress enough that it really shouldn't need any extra incentive. Or at the very least, it doesn't take as long to be called off as Wilder-Ruiz did :D

Personally I'm thinking Hearn and AJ will go down the Charr route. Just seems to be the easiest one to getting AJ to being a champion again, which seems to be the main goal right now rather than the Wilder fight, unfortunately. WBC would require him either fighting Wilder or Makhmudov most likely, WBO would be Zhang, and the IBF have already said they'll order Wallin and Hrgovic for the vacant belt should that scenario arise, so he'd have to beat one of them. Those are all winnable fights for AJ of course, but they all offer significant challenges. Charr is the path of least resistance, and it's also the fight we want least, so boxing process of elimination means that's the most likely :sisi1

Since Wallin in Sept 19 he's had five fights including Ngannou who was supposed to be a jolly. I make that four planned competitive fights in 50 months. Del3 was a jolly also btw. He's not an active champion. Usyk has only held the belts two years and was messed about by Joshua regards the rematch date so no comparison there yet dude. Messed about by Fury also.

Joshua has 3 options should the Undisputed winner retire Wilder WBC Zhang WBO and Hrgovic IBF as for the WBA rankings Charr Wilder and Bakole are all ranked above Joshua, but out of all those names like you say I’d be surprised if Hearn didn’t try and go the Charr route tbh .

Yeah, the scenario I'm imagining right now is Hearn making a huge offer to Charr and he takes AJ on as a voluntary, which the WBA have afforded him since the Miller fight fell apart. I was thinking he'd be stripped of his regular status after that, but I guess they just wanna avoid having to reappoint him again in a few years. We'll never be fully rid of this ****ing belt at this rate

Even the great John Fury is having second thoughts about Tyson Fury's chances against Usyk... Surprise, surprise – the December fight didn't happen because John decided it was time for a "COMPLETE RESET" for Tyson to stand a chance against Usyk.

Now we know why the Dec fight never eventuated, John made the call. They ducked Usyk to delay the fight and ensure that Fury had enough preparation to not be embarrassed.

"How can he be in decline"

Ergh 10 years plus of boxing puts a massive amount of wear and tears on your body. Especially heavyweights unless they have low activity.

Usyk and Fury have both had operations on their shoulder and elbows because their cartilage is basically gone. Both have anti inflammatory steroids exemptions. Both wear braces during training and ice their joints numb every session. That's decline and decline that cannot be reversed.

Half of what makes Usyk Fury interesting is how good both can turn up.

Did Fury's decline stop him from turning up to the post-fight presser for Ngannou?
Did Fury's decline validate him shamelessly ducking the immediate match against Usyk in December?
