You guys really think all of these men have sat with their arms crossed ALL YEAR and are NOW suddenly penning in fights for "September" as per their promoters completely missing the start of the year and all of summer which is PPV prime time. Yeah right. They'll have the Saudi deals come through by then. All delay tactics and all of them have happily sat on their hands. They'll have better sparring than a knock over chump to "stay busy" do they really need to even have an outing for attention? not really. Fight sells itself and is an INSTANT record breaker. Hopefully they rant' all rusty and pathetic after sitting out for over a year. Spence Crawford is our rock for this summer. Straight facts.
Given that Frank Warren said just yesterday that offers have still yet to be sent out from the Saudis, I think they might be looking to make fights because they're now facing the possibility that the December deal won't be happening. Not saying they've given up on it, just think they might be lining up bouts so that they'll have something in case the deal fails to get made. I'm still hopeful that it'll happen, but I'd feel a bit better if there was more evidence of movement. Whether it's happening or not though, something needs to be announced soon. Feel like it's the main factor in the heavyweight scene being so dead this year, and some solid information on it one way or the other could get things moving again.
I'm hopeful this is because they're going to fight each other eventually and they're all approaching middle age now. They're all in their mid/late 30's and arguably all past their primes. Remember Fury has put his body through years of overeating junk, drug abuse and alcoholism.
I will be happy to see this event, but there is a problem with it: sounds spectacular, but can it host all the people that Fury-Usyk and AJ-Wilder can gather in two separate events? Plus, it will really need a huge amount of money for those fighters. I think it is just words. But I don't care if they will fight in one night or two different ones.
It will be a very exclusive event. Much smaller capacity than normal but the high ticket prices make up or match the gate revenue but really it's the PPV revenue that makes the money. Not that the Saudi's even need it to make money that's not the goal.
