I can't see this as remotely likely for April now.

I hoped it would be announced last weekend if it was happening in Saudi, but I would be amazed if this happened at Wembley in a few weeks.

I suspect Fury wants equal/more money than whatever Joshua has been receiving for fighting Usyk. So I can understand why he believes he would be deserving of this. Still, despite his resurgence since 2018 - he doesn't have the marketability that Joshua has had over his career, so he won't ever be given such an offer when fighting Usyk. So essentially, it all boils down to ego.

In the Hearn interview a couple of weeks back, I thought it was pretty telling that he seemed to almost sympathise with Fury here. But, of course, that'll be because he is desperate for the fight not to happen and will be delighted if it's scuppered.

It's an exciting fight that is needed for the division, so it's a shame it looks as if it won't be happening in the immediate future. But, unfortunately, it will also turn the lower IQ posters you find on the general forum into a frenzy, and they'll spend the next few months hypothesising about world-class heavyweight prize fighters being "scared" of each other.

If they announce it in the upcoming days, it'll be easy to promote right because of being so big and because it's talked about for months.

That's true. Garcia Davis was only officially announced last week and will take place on April 22. Realistically though they can't leave it much longer.

Boxing fans more concerned about "whether there's enough time to sell the event to do the numbers" than "whether Fury and Usyk will fight"

Once again boxing fans thinking like promoters have conditioned them to think. Fun times we are in.

Surely the concern is whether the fight will actually happen on the proposed date, given how the sport operates.

And given that Jake Paul earned 30$ million for his last fight he lost. It's a disgrace to pay even twice more to champions like Usyk and Fury, you see - Fury was reasonable to ask 500$ million, ffs - Jake Paul and Tommy are light years away from both of them! True - 500$ million is insane, but it's more insane to give 30$ million to someone like Paul.

A wise man on here posted a few years ago 'fools and their money easily parted' when Joshua, Whyte, Chisora, Bellew and Haye were rinsing the unsuspecting public.

There appears to be a pool of people now who really have taken being rinsed to another level.

    Any updates on this?

Just out of curiosity what were the Usyk Chisora, AJ Usyk and Usyk AJ splits?

Just read that AJ Usyk 1 was 80-20 in AJs favour and Usyk Chisora was 60-40 in Chisora’s favour.

Goes to show how fast public perception and popularity changes fighters purses, I couldn’t care less how much each fighter makes but going on recent form I would say Fury edges AJ in popularity right now especially in the Americas where majority of PPV revenue is generated so 60-40 in Fury’s favour would be fair.

Really eager to see this fight now..

Imagine if you agreed your pay and signed to a fight, then that fight got called off because the other side couldn't agree their pay. The other side then proposes a new location where you won't get paid anywhere near as much, and they then hold that up because they want the big slice and want you to again reduce your pay. Most fighters wouldn't still be at the table in Usyk's position.

How do you know all this is true? How can a fighter agree a deal before all parties in the deal sit down at the table?

So what you’re telling me is that Usyk agreed to say 30m before knowing the location, arena, rights, endorsements etc and it was only left to Fury to agree his side before working out those things? It literally makes no sense.

Im assuming there’s a deal which encompasses everything like Usyk AJ and from the pot the fighters take their share of the purse.

Usyk AJ was agreed and the Saudis kept the rights of the broadcast giving Sky the uk rights and Dazn US rights (not sure about the rest of the world) to do this all sides had to be in agreement, so how does it work with one side agreeing before the deal structure is mapped out?

This is what I do for a living btw, not boxing but it’s all the same.
