@Wig Unfortunately, it seems my assessment was pretty much correct. Straight from the horse's mouth: Sugar's return plane ticket is for March 28th and he hasn't been training Fury.
So fury wanted no rematch clause. Then USKY wanted 30:70 but added a clause that fury has to pay £1M out the backend “to ukriane” then USKY wants the rematch clause. Then fury offers 50:50 in the rematch. THEN USKY OFFERS FURY 30:70 in the rematch and the fight doesn’t get signed. shambles from both men. BIG BABY MILKER AND JOE JOYCE the only guys in the division you can say will truly fight anyone
The only positive to come out of this seems to be boxing fans waking up and not accepting all the **** anymore. I hope Furys value plummets after this. Fans are getting sick of boxing these days and starting to turn.
What a shocking opening quarter of the year for boxing and British boxing, the heavyweight division is an absolute shambles
Not really surprised but absolutely gutted still as I'd allowed myself a slither of hope that it might still come through. No defending Fury here and it's a huge knock legacy wise as it may end up defining him when people look back on his career. From potentially undisputed and a sure fire ATG to being remembered for a ducking a man he called a middleweight. Fine margins. Wonder if he'll still fight end of this month at Wembley? Joyce is the only other opponent I'm remotely interested in for Fury at this point and he's tied up so can only it see it being a poor opponent. Ruiz the highest level I can see him fighting and that ain't selling our Wembley.
I don’t think Fury has really been training tbh, which would mean he had no intention of fighting at Wembley. Plus only heavyweights desperate for a payday will accept that date.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a big fall out with Warren now too. If it’s happened exactly as being reported, it’s a terrible look for Fury. I’ve suspected for a few weeks that a lot of the issues will be down to him wanting equal or better terms to the ones Joshua received fighting Usyk and it looks like this is the case here:
Is there not still a chance this could get announced at Wembley on Sunday at the England v Ukraine game? There’s a lot of money on the table here for it not to happen. Let’s hope so anyway.
That’s what I’m clinging to… and I thought that was a possibility after Talksport yesterday. My optimism has faded significantly now though.
