Fury may have a point as he is an undefeated Lineal World Champion fighting for all 4 belts in an undisputed World heavyweight clash. Should be paid at least the same as Joshua if not 20% more.
It has to make commercial sense to the people writing the cheques though. If there was a direct correlation between pay and achievements then fighters like Inoue would be getting far more than Fury and co.
The Stadium or Arena will be sold out wherever this is held and Box Office figures will be huge. Hopefully this gets announced soon at Wembley Stadium or move on and defend against Joe Joyce.
Fury is just a complete tosser. Bloke just speaks absolute gas 100% of the time. Probably needs a certain purse to clean enough for DK
boxing fans talking about boxing like they are boxing promoters Hearns juniors legacy is secure, mission accomplished
Since it's been for decades that a huge part of the boxing is business, this makes sense: the money Joshua was paid to challenge Usyk as a titles holder must be inferior to those two champions are going to be paid, which is the case.
John Fury now saying there’s not paying him enough. It will be so depressing if this fight doesn’t happen.
You'd think being Mr Mental Health UK, a fight of this magnitude could really boost the morale of the country.
Tyson Fury is such a big name that he could face my old mother and it would still sell. Today, Fury has the same status as AJ had 5 years ago.
... except he doesn't. Honestly mate. Think about it. I used to feel this way too, but it's dead wrong I've been pushing this ''Fury is enjoying the money and fame he rightfully deserved after beating Klitschko, which AJ took from him'' idea for years now, but in retrospect I was wrong. Yes, Eddie Hearn is annoying. Yes, AJ is a bumbler. Yes, Fury had an epic trilogy with Wilder. But the truth of the matter is that 2020-2022 Furymania isn't as big as 2016-2019 AJmania was. Fury isn't beating AJ's Sky numbers. Fury isn't pulling in the same types of fans AJ was. I know boxing hardcores prefer Fury to AJ (maybe not right now) and the football Deano crowd have made the switch from AJ to Fury, but AJ at the peak of his powers was far more popular with youngsters, women, different backgrounds etc. and that's honestly not up for debate. It's not fair bringing up AJ's new career with DAZN, as that is a different thing. AJ's prime years and peak popularity with Sky blew whatever Fury's doing with BT and ESPN out of the water. I know the Fury fanboys will bring up the Whyte numbers, but a) I don't care about popularity contests as I'm #teamusyk and b) that's purposefully missing the point I posted on this forum a few weeks ago that the Saudis won't overpay for this fight because Fury doesn't quite fit their interest like AJ did, and despite all of Fury's achievements in boxing, AJ still lives rent-free in his head (which is sad and damaging his career). I don't know whether it's Fury's style or appearance or background or demeanour or endorsements or not being down with the kids - or what, but he doesn't have the same value to them as AJ did. Also lol @ the bloke who brings up the lineal title. Do you honestly think the Saudis care about that? Give me a break John Fury had an interview with True Geordie in late 2021 where he said that Fury could've pulled out of Wilder3 but chose not to because he said the fans wouldn't forgive him - or something along those lines. It doesn't matter if Usyk can't speak a lick of English, he IS a household name after the Bellew, Chisora and AJ fights. Fury's backed into a corner and this delay is really telling. I honestly thought Fury would relish this matchup, but I'm beginning to have my doubts. He's the president gasman
