150 years... that brings os all the way back to 1875! Please name 25 boxers (1 from each year) from the last quarter of the 19th century... who you would favour to beat Usyk?
"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" as Carl Sagan used to say... so when you make these outlandish claims, I think you should be able to come up with some actual names. But maybe the last quarter of the 19th century is too difficult - so how about if we extend the period all the way up to 1935? That's about 60 years of boxing history! So can you name even 25 men before Louis, who you would favour to beat Usyk? Not 60, just 25! That should be easy... considering how little you think of UsykI
I don't think you've seen enough of Usyk if you think he has no boxing finesse, lateral movement, combinations, and adaptability. Perhaps watch more from him to get a good idea on why he's considered a highly rated fighter. He's arguably one of the most skilled Heavyweights in the last 25 years.
You are obviously entitled to your opinion I’m sure there are many others here that disagree with you. Good luck
Here are HUNDREDS of Heavyweights listed from the late 1880s - 2000s, just taking a few from each decade will give you well over a Hundred Top Fighters who could beat Usyk and countless others over the years... Fly at it. The Top Ranked Heavyweight Boxers I'll let the Boxing Fanatics and Aficionados cite just who 'some' of them might just be, I will say there are some pretty darn good Boxers listed who really did live and were truly top men, who'd have thought!
Look thistle... you're obviously very knowledgeable. I just think it's a pity, that you're so biased against modern boxers, that you can't be taken seriously! To call someone pathetic, who first cleaned out the CW division (most of the time fighting in the other guy's backyard), after which he moved up to become today's best heavyweight... well, I don't really know what to say! I find it hard to believe, that you honestly think, Usyk would have lost to HUNDREDS of the great fighters that came before him. It's fine to have a soft spot for the oldtimers (I do too, believe it or not!) - but the way you denigrate and ridicule modern boxers all the time, is beyond what is reasonable. Can you really not see that?
I'm NOT against Modern Boxers, there are Plenty of Good & Great Fighters out there, but for God's sake when even in Living Colour they look like **** (Fury), well I am sorry, especially the Subpar S-HW Division, pathetic... someone trying too big up Dubios for a win against Joyce, Joyce??? Good Lord even Fringe contenders from better Era's would s hit out a Joyce all day long. Usyk has shown me nothing, repeat nothing special, he is just an ordinary Good Top Fighter, who would lose to all Very Good Top Fighters over the years. I'd loved to SEE It in him and others, I just don't and I don't Max Kellerman or Steve Bunce about any of them if I don't.
And yet you refuse to name any of these very good top fighters over the years, who would all beat him! With one every year since 1875, is 25 too much to ask for prior to Louis? Based on what you have been saying, I don't think so! It seems like a very low number, but to make it easier for you - how about just naming 25 fighters prior to Liston? That's more than 80 years of boxing history, so surely that shouldn't be too difficult, right?
He's an Olympic gold medalist, he's fought numerous times at the opponent's hometown and beat them, he cleared out two weight classes by beating all the best fighters put in front of him, became the third fighter to be undisputed twice, and is arguably P4P #1 best fighter in the world right now. Please tell me how that is considered nothing special?
partially i,m with you . Usyk is not a man from another universe and he is beatable , his hw legacy is except 2x aj and 2x fury cherrypicked and weak . But he was indeed a world champion at amateurs , olympic gold medalist , undisputed cw champion and undispured hw champion . Its imho a bit stretched and unfair to say there are several guys from every decade who would wipe the floor with usyk . Thats not true , especially if you go pre 1900 . Humanity was smaller and less powerful , nutritions , training methods and technical knonwledge were way inferior .
and yet so many of them gas, while a Jeffries and Dempsey would do the dance all night long.. It's not a Personal thing guys, I just don't see it, Titles DON'T always equate to greatness, nor Mickey Mouse titles, nor Subpar Giants, nor 'modern' training techniques and especially not Hype, certainly not just because you're expected to trumpet a weaker era. Good guys all of them, God Bless them all, but I'll take other more very obviously superior Era's, especially complimented with Film over ALL of them. Give me ALL of the JJW and Lloyd Marshall's of every Era all day long... and Usyk is not one of them as far as I can see.
