Fury v Botha off

Utterly bizarre considering some of the complete garbage they do sanction.

 

You think there's a gulf between Fury and Botha that's wider than Harrison and Haye ?

No, I don't.

In a better world any fight that is an obvious mis-match would be prevented. However, we don't live in such a place and what I was trying to say is that although everyone who knows their stuff knew Audley had no chance, it was a more justifiable fight than Fury vs Botha.

I think you're overrating the British fighters though.

 

At the very least, though, Botha would still be the second best opponent Fury has faced.

Botha's terrible conditioning is the problem at the moment, in terms of ring savvy and experience Fury could learn a thing or two from fighting him. Perhaps a 6-rounder.

 

It wasn't more justifiable. The media and promoters and the BBBC chose to justify it. They went to great lengths to justify it.

Tyson Fury is still just a novice, and hasn't looked much good against some very low-level fighters. A guy like Rich Power aint gonna set the world alight, believe me. In the grand scheme of things, McDermott's just a roly-poly journeyman.
Sure, Botha is well over-the-hill, and he's fat (as is Fury) but his experience and the level he's come from makes him a reasonable opponent.

If the BBBC have an age limit, fine. But it's the first I've heard of it.

The gold medallist part is irrelevant, Botha is a former world champion.

And he may have been European champion but it wasn't an indicator of his ability, it could have been an English title fight realisticly.

I just think the levels between Haye and Audley is greater than that between Fury and this version of Botha. They sanctioned Calzaghe versus Tocker bloody Pudwill for christs sake...

there are some good domestic heavyweights he could face and get himself into contention for a British or Euro title shot.

how the hell does Fury intend to get a World title shot if doesn't even attempt to go the traditional route like Froch or Cleverly?!
