Take a hit on him coming over to reap future rewards......ESPN have invested heavily in Fury and the next Wilder fight is going to be gargantuan !!!....in the USA the bums on seats are a tiny % of turnover....Loads of Las Vegas fights are full of comp casino tickets yet generate fortunes....

Fury has taken over the USA ,the public absolutely loves him...AJs USA debut was the polar opposite its no wonder he wants another try..

 

If you are talking about Fury v Wilder fight i heard Bob Arum say he thinks it could do 4 million PPVs !!!

 

When America comes knocking, you answer the door. That's the way it is and always will be. Britain had a great run but it's over. Hearn made the first move to the states and the rest have followed. The irony is Fury looks like he'll be the biggest success.

A lot of bitterness on this thread. As if Fury v unknown Schwarz was supppsed to make bags of cash. It was a showcase event and Fury/top rank/espn done a tremendous job. Fair play to them.

Wonder what the espn viewing figures were. That'll give you an idea of the level of success this showcase reached. I've no idea tbh.

 

Don't casinos also pay a big sum to get the fight? Cause of all the buzz it attracts to their venue etc.

 

You should be comparing it to AJ v Ruiz. Both shows headlined by a British HW.

 

Exactly - make the money out of gambling. Especially the high rollers who they’ll give out free tickets too.

MMA Payout has obtained the full roster of salaries from the Nevada Athletic Commission from Saturday’s Top Rank promoted event featuring Tyson Fury at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Tyson Fury’s reported salary was $1 million although its been known that he’s receiving around $12.5 million for the fight. According to the NAC paysheet, he’s paying $300,000 to the IRS as well as a $25,000 sanctioning fee. Fury also paid incidentals which equated to him taking home $673,428. His opponent Tom Schwarz received $250,000 for the fight. He paid $75,000 to the IRS and $7,500 in sanction fees for a take home of $167,450.

Fury has never carried a big fan base,

the rematch v Wlad was doing shocking ticket sales wise.

 

His fanbase - weirdly - seemed to come during his time of not fighting.

 

Schwarz was guaranteed a minimum of $1 million his official fight purse was £250k.

 

It's actually quite impressive that over 5,000 paying fans come out to a Las Vegas casino to see a fighter from Manchester, UK (having his first fight ever in Las Vegas, only 3rd fight ever in USA) go against a complete unknown lowly-regarded German (apparently only ranked 7th in Germany!) in a mismatch.

 

But.....but.....but Fury has taken over the U.S!

 

It's not really considering Fury is apparently now a massive name after the Wilder fight and the universally recognised best heavyweight in the world.

You couldn't move on here after Wilder for 'Tyson is trending on Twitter/Tyson is huge on social media/face it - Tyson has broken America' garbage.

Next fight he shifts Terry Flanagan level tickets. Something not quite right. Still, as ever with Tyson and talk of how popular he is, it's next time which actually counts....
