Forget the victor. How do either men deal with a defeat? Are they inspired and motivated for revenge in the return or turn up a little less prepared for a cash out? Does either call it a day and give up a multi million dollar rematch? I guess the nature of the defeat will decide a lot. A corrupt decision is far from impossible? A cut? Disqualification? Or even a stone cold KO although the bookies would disagree with this one?

For me, Fury’s entire legacy is at stake but for Usyk, I feel a defeat at the hands of a super heavyweight is forgiven given his deep amateur and professional resume and CV says overachiever.

Where does defeat leave either man and how do they respond?

Fury & Usyk will deal with defeat with utter grace, poise and beauty. It will be the best part of the fight. The grace, honour and integrity of the winner AND loser giving props to one another. Because really that's all that matters. Both are ATG's. Usyk is nearer enough a GOAT'd cruiserweight regardless of the outcome and with Fury's victory, nobody can diminish him anymore. The last 12 months of belittling and hate Fury has received is disgusting and if it wasn't for his mental health issues he would retire on the spot and vacate all the belts and fade into oblivion with Usyk in hand come May 18th. Both of these men are FINISHED. This is their last dance in their minds and we will see what true fighting heart and spirit looks like.

The worst outcome possible is Usyk not giving Fury his props like Wlad & Wilder did. I can see him getting butthurt with Fury's roughhousing.

Usyk got here much less problem to deal. He got great, great career and even if he lose to Tyson he done fantastic job in sport of boxing.
This fight for Usyk is not to be or not to be great. Only to be even greater.
As smaller person from cruserweight people will accept his lose much quicker and easier.

I expect Usyk accept loss if it will be legit loss (no ordinary judge decision)
Reematch case depends probably on how first fight go.

Fury on other hand got big problem. With all this talk expectation is very big.
He dont done soo much as Usyk and he still should proof himself more.
And he will be fighting with "small", "ugly", "middleweight" without power.

If he loss he got pretty big problem. And I dont know how he can fix that after all this talk. His whole promotion is just one big diss respect everybody, talking how best in history he is.

How his ego survive when he lost to this person? No idea.

Any boxer who doesn't accept his defeat like man should be banned.
It's the Wilder type excuse crap that is hurting boxing.

Fury can't handle defeat because he's a mental mess, but I still want him to lose...

I hope Fury is gracious in defeat, he should know how cringe sore losers are after watching Wilder cry like a baby

If Usyk loses he will still be CW ATG No. 1 or No. 2.

If Fury loses, he will get even more haters, which he started getting by "retiring" after his win over Wlad. And those haters will (at least to some extent) be justified.

There probably is more pressure on Fury for this fight though. Especially the middleweight talk. Usyk as mentioned with still be an ATG at Cruiserweight. Him beating Fury will be the icing on the cake of a tremendous career.

A win over Fury is just a victory lap for Usyk's career and solidifies him as an ATG at Heavyweight as well as CW imo. A loss for Usyk is going to be "expected. But what an amazing fighter to even get to this point!"

A Fury win is going to be a massive win but will be overshadowed by a lot of "This is what he should be doing if he's as great as he claims", "Took you long enough" and "Ok now fight AJ to be the man of the era". A loss to Usyk after all this buildup drama and retirement antics, pulling out multiple times etc may be career suicide.

Usyk doesn’t have any history for dirty tactics - Fury does - and that includes as recently as his last fight against debutant.

If Fury practices any of said dirty tactics and they impact on the complexion and outcome. of course Usyk would have every right to highlight and complain about same during and post fight.

A good clean fight is what most people would like to see - I would think. I’m not interested in Fury’s mailing, wrestling, elbows etc. - that’s not boxing.

However, as I see it, Fury is at the short end of skill vs skill - and, as such and when it becomes materially apparent during the fight, he will definitely resort to fighting dirty at some point if not actually from the get go.

Do we know who the ref is as yet - and if we don’t know, when will we know?

    Cheers

Fury might go the Garcia mental craziness route if he loses- I think its in character for him. He probably ditches the legacy and the whole "GOAT heavyweight" talk and tries to squeeze all the big $ fights he can before fading away.

I don't think Usyk will change from victory or loss. Hes a hard worker and someone determined to be at the top.

Both can lose with respect in tact. Losing to Fury or Usyk is hardly the end of the world.

You've only lost to the #1 ranked boxer.

If it's all fair and square on the night with no dramatic controversy either way, then both fighters genuinely accept defeat and show due sportsmanship and respect imo.

And this continues publicly and privately in the immediate post aftermath.

However, depending on the severity of the loss, I think one man privately and personally deals with the loss far better than the other.

Both will have obvious initial personal disappointment, but one will be level headed and dust off and continue with his career or possibly make a rational decision to retire ( all depending on loss severity, of course). The other who is not as thick skinned as he portrays and wears his heart on his sleeve could be tortured by his demons....maybe publicly not showing it, but privately he'll be in a very, very dark place...imo.
