Not convinced Usyk takes Wilder's power... If Usyk vs Wilder was made, I think the odds would be roughly evens.
Really enjoyed the fight. I tell ya there isn't many heavyweights who would've beaten Deontey Wilder last night. He was big and strong, landing big jabs to the body and carrying his power through most of the fight, despite gassing. Fury Is a madman. Went in for a gun fight and won. His superior boxing, stamina and strength made the difference but there was no need to put himself in danger so often. I think he just enjoys it. AJ has no chance against Fury. Usyk is probably too small. Hopefully he fights both before retirement.
What problems do you think Usyk would cause the wigster in his quest to become an all time great? For me, last night was a victory for team wig as much as team fury. All those rounds spent in sparring giving the gypsy king the education he needed to handle such a test. Apparently Steve bunce’s next question to ask before Tyson just casually walked off was going to be “Tyson, is it true you were dropped repeatedly in camp by an un-named global megastar?”
Absolutely. Wilder is at worst evens against anyone not named Fury. CV wise his Draw against Fury is arguably better than any of the wins held by the Whyteleafe - Parker - Joshua - Chisora - Takam type top ten guys. Wilder just completed a trilogy for the ages against a bonafide ATG during which he dropped him four times and nearly stopped him once. Wilder has heart, and power from another dimension. USKY is a remarkable talent but Chisora/Joshua got his respect a couple of times so Wilder's power could easily put him to sleep. I don't see any way USKY makes up the gap aginst the twenty stone Gypsy TANK. 1 Fury 2 Wilder 3 USKY 4+ Parker-Whyteleafe-Joyce-Joshua-Chisora-Martin-Breazeale-Ruiz etc.
You got some stalker vibe about you pal - new poster, some sort of alt with a GRUDGE is my best guess.
I think Fury's tactics were to punch and grab in order to drain Wilders energy and also to keep out of danger. All fight he was only 1 counter from lights out. He had obviously felt the power before and knew exactly the consequences so he fought dirty to get the job done and for me it was a great performance. He showed yet again he can make the necessary adjustments.
I was convinced Fury couldn’t lose this even if he wasn’t on form, but when he went down I wondered for a minute there, he looked hurt bad. He showed again that he can deal with a crisis and not just survive, but think, get himself together and win. It’s a rare quality that will be hard for anyone to beat, he finds a way like great fighters do even if it isn’t pretty. I thought Wilder earned a lot of respect there despite his idiocy outside the ring, I kind of felt bad for him desperately trying to stay in there, well intent on going out on his shield. He showed his heart, whatever he says afterwards its hard not to respect that. It’s a shame he didn’t react well to Fury’s attempt to bury the hatchet, he clearly has a few issues to deal with. I didn’t think it was the best heavyweight fight ever, mainly because Wilder looked out of it a fair part of the fight, but I’d have to say it’s up there it terms of the most dramatic events I’ve ever seen live, a real roller coaster. Even though Wilder did look out of it, his shear will to win still made him dangerous.
Got to be a matchroom fan surely - Could it be that Whyteleafe nut coming back as an ALT? I've not been overly critical of Whyteleafe other than saying Wallin is only the second time he's been in with a prime guy in twelve fights.
Ermmm ok. Take the tin foil hat off pal. I read a couple of your posts before signing up that cracked me up so thought I’d carry on the gag. I’ll draw a line under it if it’s gonna make you think you’re about to be abducted by aliens.
Wilder is supposedly one of the hardest punchers ever and Fury just gets up and recovers instantly. Like he doesn’t need to take a round off or anything.
Rewatched the fight this evening and I have to say I think Wilder beats AJ. He's a very tough man, refused to go out any way but on his shield. Was dangerous until the end. He's improved over the trilogy but Fury always had an answer. I hope we get to see fights like AJ/Wilder and Fury/Usyk + AJ/Fury and Usyk/Wilder.
