Unless Wilder is going to learn how to jab at 35 years old, this is wasting 6 months of everyone’s careers

Good balanced post. I know people don't want to see the Wilder rematch after how this one went but he has got zero to lose to be honest. If he loses, he get's a very good payday and he will retire being 35. If he somehow manages to land a huge shot and win, well he can get another huge payday against Joshua.

I know it's unlikely he'd win but I agree with zulander that Wilder looked really bad especially after the 3rd, his legs looked really unstable, if he busted his eardrum then that would probably be the reason why. Not surprised he got stopped though, Fury was able to back him up and eventually wear him down being 3-4 stone heavier. He was able to do it also because he has the ability to negate Wilder's right hand by timing and his movement / feints.

Not sure why people going to town on Ben Davison on another thread either. Fury could of won on the back foot also and made it a boxing masterclass to be honest. If he fights Joshua I'm pretty sure he'll just revert to boxing on the outside mostly.

Have Finkel & Co thought about the potential damage to Wilder ?

They don't give a damn about his health, it's all about the $$$.

I wouldn't complain at a third. Only fight I want to really see Fury in is Joshua. But if that don't happen then I would be happy with a Fury/Wilder trilogy.

I think we're pretty much all agreed on wanting Fury v Joshua but if not then I would rather see Dillian Whyte get his chance.

    Rematch clause has been triggered.

Wilder blames his costume on the way in as the reason for his loss. Fury didn’t hurt him, but his legs had already gone.

worse than David Hayes little toe excuse.

Wilder took such a beating i'm not sure he will ever be the same again, so i don't another fight with Fury is a good move.

I agree he should retire to be honest, everyone will know the game plan to beat him now.

Also sad to see Wilder criticising Bayless and Breland - two men who have ensured he still has a career ahead of him. He's saying Bayless allowed Tyson to punch the back of his head but if anything, Bayless was too strict on Fury, breaking up the inside exchanges too soon. And Breland obviously halted the savage beating which would have ended up a lot worse if it continued. Wilder's power was gone, the fight was over.

The ring walk suit excuse is the worst excuse I've ever heard in boxing considering his legs were fine until he was repeatedly hammered to the head.

I suppose Wilder needs to believe this nonsense to get himself up for a third fight but it lacks a lot of class. No doubt the reckless cheerleader Deas will be kept on.

Wilder is a confidence fighter, he has to truly believe he’s going to knock out the guy in front of him. His confidence will be absolutely shattered after that. It’s a horrible fight for him but why’s he gonna turn down that money? Not a single person alive would do so.

Its a bet like when David Haye rematched Bellew, he probably knew deep down his body couldn’t do it but he took the money and ran - fair enough.

Its a shame Wilder has made that absolutely pathetic excuse. I don’t think wilder is any good but He took his beating like a warrior and no heavyweight on the planet would have beaten fury on the night with the strength and ability he showed - truly a class above.

I think Haye probably thought he could do it to be fair. He was well up until his Achilles went and even then Bellew took forever to get rid of him.

Another question; what if Wilder beats Fury in the rematch? I know boxing fans are quick to make pretty significant jumps in opinion (some on here were saying before the second fight that it was 50/50, too close to call, and now they seem to be saying Wilder beating Fury is essentially impossible), but what if it happens? Are we then sitting around in early 2021 waiting for Fury Wilder IV?

The costume is excuse is genuinely unbelievable. He's either very deluded or concussed from the fight.

No one in their right mind would think that's a good excuse. He should just say Fury out-boxed him on the night. The promotion won't be happy either, makes it look a bit farcical.

Yep unfortunately. Annoyingly, with Wilder's power it can't be ruled out as a possibility either. You'd have to favour Fury but Wilder will always have a chance and Fury cannot be complacent. Would be terrible for the division though.
