It was truly astonishing and nobody was more astonished than Wilder.

I don't think Fury would've got up from the shot that Shavers hit Holmes with.

Any other referee would have stopped the fight, but the notoriously dodgy Jack Reiss wanted Fury to survive for some reason.

His decision was vindicated by Fury not just getting up but continuing his domination of the fight.

    Rubbish

Jack Riess did a great job, didn't even notice him in the ring till the final knockdown, had Fury lay there for even a second more he would have been waved off but the moment Jack started his count over Fury his eyes opened and he rose like the terminator.

To be fair to Fury, he being so tall would probably took a little bit of the sting of these kind of punches, dude would have to punch up and use his feet masterfully to hit that square. Usyk sure had to punch up, that saved Fury a little, i would wager. Wilder had the perfect dimensions to fOOk fury up.

It was incredible and it made seeing Fury finish Wilder in brutal fashion in the third fight so satisfying.

I've gotta admit, Fury's un-natural rising in that 12th rnd, and then, subsequently went onto putting it on Wilder was pretty damn impressive.

Remember too, at the time, Wilder was considered a devastating puncher..

No fecker watching at the time thought that was ever gonna happen...no-one

And I can still see the look of total and utter disbelief on Wilder's face when he turned and saw Fury standing there with his gloves up.

THAT, was a genuine Rocky moment for me...

I don't think I've seen anything better tbh.

I think it was more of a flash knockdown but Fury sold it well, recognizing the good moment for some showmanship and maybe even a bit of conmanship.

If someone gets up in ten seconds and fights you on even terms, you haven't KO'd him. So people complaining about this is ridiculous. If you really KO someone they are not able to continue fighting.

If people want to see a ref obviously try to save a fighter, watch Cleverly Kovalev and Cleverly literally couldn't get back to his corner and was part carried there. Without that he would have been stumbling/crawling back and the fight would have been done then and there.

My father and I watched Shavers-Holmes live on TV. When Shavers landed that lunch from hell my old man jumped up "The fights over !" But Larry got up.

When isn't mentioned often about Wilder-Fury is that it was a two punch combo that put Fury down, not a one punch shot.

    It's Shavers-Holmes for me with Wilder-Fury a close second.
