Does anyone think that Deontay Wilder will agree to such a difficult challenge in his first title defense? I have my doubts about this. It seems like a relatively easy challenge would be the way to go forward before challenging the likes of Povetkin, Klitschko, or Fury.

Fury-Hammer Press Conference – ****** says he’d pay Hammer step aside money if Deontay Wilder agreed terms to fight Fury next

    By James Slater

Heavyweights Tyson Fury and Christian Hammer came face to face today at a press conference in London to further promote their February 28th fight dubbed “Risky Business.” Both guys engaged in the traditional stare-down pose and both men looked to be in good physical shape; though both fighters were sensibly wrapped up well to shield them from the cold.

Inside the venue, before the photos were taken, both Fury, unbeaten at 23-0(17) and the European champion and Hammer, 17-3(10) sounded ultra-confident.

“A lot of people think I’m crazy to fight Tyson Fury because they think it’s too early for me,” Romanian-born Hammer stated. “But I’m ready to win. Tyson has picked the wrong opponent. I’m coming here to win. I’ll be the one who gets the world title fight with either Klitschko or Wilder.”

Fury then had some things to say:

“This is a risky fight for me. I’m not even thinking about Klitschko or Wilder,” Fury said. “[But] If I get through Christian Hammer, I’ll gladly fight Wilder before Wladimir Klitschko.”

Promoter Frank ****** had perhaps the most interesting/headline dominating things to say.

Talking about how he has been in touch with Wilder’s team, notably Al Haymon, about a possible Wilder defence against Fury, ****** said he’d pay Hammer off if Wilder agreed to terms this week.

“Tyson Fury against Deontay Wilder is a much more exciting fight than Fury against Klitschko. It would fill up any football stadium in the country,” ****** said. “Deontay Wilder has brought the heavyweight division out of the doldrums, and back to life. Him against Tyson would be the most exciting fight to promote for me, bar none. The plan is still to pin down Klitschko and not let him duck Tyson, but Wilder would be huge. With the greatest respect to Christiam Hammer, if Wilder were to confirm this week I would pay him off. In a way it’s a compliment (to Hammer)because we would ask ourselves, ‘why take the risk?'”

Hammer, however, is convinced he will score the upset if the February fight does go ahead (and with Wilder having damaged his right hand in the win over Bermane Stiverne it’s unlikely he will agree to any fight as soon as this week). Interestingly, Hammer did not predict a KO victory, but a points win.

“People in Germany think I am mad, travelling over here to fight Tyson but I believe I can beat him on points,” Hammer said.

Fury makes a name of himself by claiming how Klitschko avoids him. He finally secures the mandatory status and then says that he'd gladly fight Wilder before Klitschko.

Kind of contradicting himself in the same sentence.

Of course Wilder will take the fight!! Why wouldnt he?? Already said he'll go to the UK.

Not worrying about getting robbed because Fury gets KO cold with his no defense self

I've said it before and now once again.

Please tell me one single tall man today who can box inside and out with much shorter men, box or brawl, throws body punches frequently, shows the courage and heart to get off the canvas to win fights, and not only that but can fight entire matches and embarrass top 15 fighters from either the southpaw or orthodox?

Please tell me of one other single big man who does this?

Hughie is a great body puncher isn't he? I was surprised in seeing this style between his cousin Tyson and himself. This is a style almost lost amongst most big men after Bowe retired.

If hughie can return to his earlier form, he's gonna be good. He is still maturing, he may be a big lump already but there isn't much muscle there at the moment. I'm very interested in hughies progress, he's actually got a decent challenge next month, and after such a long lay off. And if the rumours are true he and knocked out chambers in sparring, he could be A top 10 fighter In a few years at the age of 22. :scaredas:

If Tyson's promoter is serious, he needs to make a firm, legitimate and generous offer to Wilder immediately.

I'm curious to know how Christian Hammer responded.

Was he like "no offense taken :D"? "No comment :nono"?

Did he indicate he would or wouldn't take step-aside money?
