Naw, without covid we most likely did not had saw big games at all. Next defenses against old dads etc like stuff. Now only media and maybe if they wish big money, might do big fights faster. Otherwise like Wilder, bang no hopers and old ortiz, then ring rusty Fury was supposed to be easily beatable. Now this Pulev. Lol and Whyte vs Povetkin, old. A.J vs Wilder and vs Ruiz and Fury Fury vs Wilder III, preferably they did not talked and had fight this year. Whyte if he wish might fight vs Fury, A.J and Wilder.
Watching AJ get dropped all over the shop against Ruiz NEVER gets old. He goes down like a sack of spuds like he's lost consciousness but hasn't which makes it even more amusing
Too many damn obstacles.... Unless if Joshua handles Pulev And Fury disposes of Wilder or that fight gets scrapped (say they give Wilder a shot at the winner of Joshua/Fury if he steps aside and fights Ruiz in the meantime) Then possibly next year/summer as a big boxing event, hell and maybe there will be a vaccine by then.
Who knows? Like you said, maybe covid will change the boxing game for the better. Unfortunately I have my doubts. These promoters need to stay out of the kitchen because they marinate too long lol. Customers have left.
They can drop all the belts, just make the fight and make it asap whilst they are both in their primes. I don't want to see another floyd vs pac situation.
The "news" that Fury had 3-4 more fights was all a contract negotiation ploy. Fury has subsequently said several times that he will fight until he is 40, or, "until I can't do it anymore." He said that Covid was a wake-up call that there is nothing else for him to do, but, I think the truth is just that he was looking looking for big numbers on his new contract. As for the fight, last year I would have said 100% that it would happen, because they seemed evenly matched. But after Joshua's disastrous series against a B-side fighter, and standing in comparison to Fury's ascension against an A-side guy, I just don't know. And with Joshua's recent strange comments...
If AJ struggles against Pulev but is making big money for them and Fury destroys Wilder ... maybe Hearn realises AJ will be beat by Fury and they can milk AJ a little longer with easier fights. If AJ KO's Pulev easily, no matter what Fury does in the Wilder fight, maybe they all get back into AJ hype hysteria and make the fights straight away. Hopefully it's delayed long enough for AJ to lose again so that the fight isn't made. The long game is more important and double/triple fights with AJ-Fury will refuel Hearn/AJ/Matchroom coffers until the end of time. AJ losing to Uysk or another will lose them unbelievable funds. As far as legacy goes, AJ has already destroyed his own with the Ruiz fights, so Fury won't get the credit people think he will for this if he wins. In fact, AJ's stock will go down even more if Fury wins, because that's how it goes. If it had been another proper big hitting HW that KO'd AJ, it would be one thing (say if Wlad did it), but the fact it was a small fat man that everybody knows doesn't train properly and shouldn't even be at HW, that makes it so much worse. People talked about Fury getting dropped by Cunningham as though it exposed him, but he was young still, didn't lose the fight and Cunningham was 6'2 completely shredded at 210 lbs, much bigger than Ruiz and better credentials. AJ will never live those Ruiz losses down, no matter the Hearn propaganda that comes out. The truth is, deep down people know AJ isn't even that great a win for Fury now. Wilder is better, and so would Usyk be. Maybe even one of the up and comers. And if Fury loses to AJ, which he could do due to the punching power, it would be so much worse because AJ already ruined his own stock. Fury would have lost to a guy that lost to Taco tits!
People on this forum really seem to be critical of AJ lol. One things for certain, if this fight doesn't happen, I'll probably go off boxing for a while.
