I'm disappointed that the fight didnt last longer but you would think a guy with the experience of Ellis wouldnt just walk straight into punches.

I thought Ellis would give Fury a couple of rounds but jeez that guy was **** last night. Fury must be kinda gutted today. Not with his performance but because he must know he needs rounds against stern tests before he is sent into fight a Skelton or Sprott.

i thought the advice given to ellis was brilliant.
"walk forward in a straight line and whatever you do,don't move your head"
what a contrast to the english title fight and commonwealth too !!

;-) In all seriousness a few years ago it would have been a good fight. Mathew needs to retire now. He is another guy who could be a fantastic asset to the sport as a trainer. Last night I thought he embarassed himself. I'm sure he was heavily subsidised for his efforts but I've watched every one of Mathews fights and know he was not badly hurt by any of those punches. He was there for a payday and didn't even have a corner man. I find Fury really likable. He's got a really good attitude. I agree he doesn't look a huge puncher but there's certainly some pop there. He throws fairly well with both hands and although Mike Tyson statement was a bit far fetched, he's every bit as exciting as Danny Williams and Pele Reid at a similer stage in his career. In fact i'd say he has outshone Williams' career start.

Williams was 5-0 (3KO's). He was typically hidden away on Sports Networks mammoth undercards and the guys he was beating fell into the shocking variety. John Pierre and James Wilder were light heavies who took him the distance. Alvin Miller was the worst cruiserweight in Britain according to boxing news and would go 0-13-1 at the start of his career (it did pick up a little to be fair) and Joey Paladino was literally the worst fighter i've ever seen from the UK. As you know i'm not one to slag anyone off but he finished 3-10 (2) 9 losses by KO. He was shocking. A former Goalie for Wigan I think he seemed to lack any skill or punch resistance but credit to him fought some very good names. Vance Idiens was equally vulnerable finshing 10-13 (2) with 11 early losses. He retired on the back of a 9 fight losing streak 8 by KO.

Reid was 5-0 (5 KO's) all in the first round. His start had been more impressive and he was selected over Williams in a article pickin the new stars in each weight division. He too beat Idiens and Paladino. Debut opponent Gary Williams wasn't actually that bad.... In fact he was pretty dangerous (he drew with Darren Corbett). Crude, but a trier. The win that set him aside from Williams was the one over Keith Fletcher. Fletcher was decent enough to be in the top ten and had beaten Derek William and Dermot Gasgoigne and taken Julius Francis the distance. He could actually box a bit nd was fighting out of the then buzzing Chris Sanigar camp.

Fair start in comparison IMO. Though Price looks pretty impressive too. I think both have the potential to suceed at Euro level where all our heavies bar Skelton have failed.

    Reid was

I agree with McGuigan, Fury NEEDS to get his ass stateside and spa some competent yanks.
