He also beat Deontay Wilder by most people's scorecards. That's the two best and hardest hitting heavyweights of the last 20 years. Fury is a proven world champion and the best we've seen since Lennox Lewis. It's so funny how much that hurts you.

Meanwhile your boy got starched by a fat Mexican in R3 of his last fight and is likely to be done the same way a second time.

The comfort for Fury fans is that he has a tendency to fight up or down to the level of his opponent. That’s part of the reason the Klitschko fight was such a big upset; it was hard to visualise how the guy flat on his back staring at the ring lights against Steve Cunningham could stand upto Wlad.

You can give Fury credit for heart last night, but overall it’s one to shrug and put down as a bit of an off-night that he came through in one piece.

It doesn’t really change much about Joshua-Wilder II. We’ve seen close up for 12 rounds how they match up, their keys to victory, and their strengths and weaknesses. At a high-level, it’s a pretty simple fight to evaluate - Wilder can’t outbox Fury, so he needs to knock his head off, which he’s more than capable of doing.

Fury has always looked a bad style match-up for Joshua, but until the Ruiz rematch is out of the way we don’t know what kind of Joshua we’re going to be dealing with.

 

Fury’s career progression has looked more like the FTSE Small Cap than a “trajectory”.

You can never be sure whether his stock is going to go up, down, sideways or in circles.

He fights completely differently against Joshua. Probably quite similar to his performance against Wlad, difference being that Joshua would take more risks but is more likely to gas. It would be a great fight.

 

I agree with that, Fury has looked even worse when he is not fired up or threatened by a fighter. Its his own fault though, taking these soft touches puts him in this position, he should just go for the big fights than risk losing or getting injured. I still think Fury has the beating of both AJ and Wilder, he will soundly out box Wilder again and wear AJ out down the stretch, he is just a tougher fighter than both. But this is down to what form he is in obviously.

 

Yes, brilliant result but his awesome 1-0 world title fight resume came against a faded and very distracted 39 year old veteran in possibly one of the worst heavyweight title fights in history. A fight he probably shouldn't of been allowed to contest due to proven Nandrolone use in his previous bout. Sorry, he’s brave as they come but still far too many questions marks over Fury for me to be seeing him as this second coming.

The argument to this is that wilder was able to land eventually on fury, now most folk would agree that aj is a better boxer than wilder so if wilder can land big on fury it's not inconceivable that aj can too.

Fury can box their heads off that is 100% fact, but he has nowhere near the power of either two. In terms of wilder and aj that is a complete 50/50 imo with me edging slightly towards wilder possibly.

Absolutely. It's why these fights are so intriguing. I don't think anyone saying that any of them beats any of the others 99 times out of a hundred is being particularly sensible. The only point which does seem to be more likely is that Fury clearly has a power issue compared to the other two and therefore wouldn't seem likely to get rid of them. Put simply, if you're struggling to put away Pianeta and Wallin you're probably going to struggle to get rid of opponents who would just wipe those two out in a few rounds.
