I guess they will be slightly favouring Fury because of him being the bigger name and being more accompliced. :yep
You're hoping, I bet they will be almost evens, if not Price fav. They have Odds compilers not Sun readers to make the odds
They arent at the same stage in their careers imo, I'd like to see them fight one day but not too soon. Its potentially a great domestic match-up but the timing isnt right imo. Its a major risk for both promoters, why not let Fury & Price mature & become more established before eventually meeting up? Fury is several fights past Price & should be looking to progress beyond Brit-CW. He's top10 world-rated & should be fighting someone at a similar level. Price has looked good but is still untested as a pro, after a few more fights he'll be a bigger attraction & have more experience. This fight needs to marinate, Groves-DeGale were under-seasoned but it made financial sense, I dont think Fury-Price does.
I think it'd be hilarious whenever it happened and we'd all watch it. It's quite possible that neither of them goes on to become a genuine world-level force for any period of time, so I just hope they make it and give us all an interesting fight that engages some fans. Would be nice to have a genuine British number one heavyweight for a change, this fight would be a major step towards giving us that, depending on how it went down. So I'd rather not wait.
But Tyson has not once defended his British title, they are both young enough to come back from this fight, surely Britains number 1 against 2 is a good thing. Its not as if they are leagues apart, most people here picking the more inexperienced fighter to win!
It's a great fight and I'd love to see it, BUT if I was Mick Hennessy I wouldn't take it. The Fury camp hold all the cards here. The belts, the higher profile and the tv deal. Fury has nothing to gain by boxing Price. Boxing fans know Price is arguably the biggest punching heavyweight in Britian but in terms of wider public recognition he isn't well known. It's a huge risk fight which offers little reward. It makes far better business sense to drop the British and go after the European or even Povetkin for the WBA ...who knows Chisora might fancy the rematch if he shocks the world against Vitali
I just hope that there's not some stupid channel Five/Sky Sports exclusivity tv contract that will be used as an excuse not to make the fight happen. Ideally I'd like to see the fight happen fairly soon. I think it would be good if an agreement could be made to have it towards the end of the year - so that we knew it would definitely happen and in the meantime the promotion and coverage of it can build and build (tastefully hopefully) like a snowball effect. I think it would be good for British boxing.
Fury won't take it. Forget all that Irish pride and "I'll fight any man" nonsense for a second. Tyson is a fight or three away from a BIG pay day, you think he's going to squander that for bragging rights in the UK? No chance. Price would demolish him when they meet.
I see where you're coming from - but if Fury thinks that he can win this (and he might well, Price has showed obvious flaws himself, and McDermott flattered him last time out, his power is obviously solid but his ability to deliver it against a talented opponent fighting the right fight and posing challenges for him remains unproven) then he has a lot to gain: a convincing win would surely cement him as the domestic number one, the Price amateur record and known power and size makes him a good win on paper - better than the reality at this point, imho - so I think Fury might not see it as an 'all to lose' fight, as I really don't think he thinks Price can beat him. That said, I don't feel like it's going to happen. But I think it'll be promoters/politics/tv channels etc stopping it rather than Fury not thinking he can take him.
