Ruiz is better than Whyte. It's a solid defense. He ruined Joshua, turned him into a poor mans Wlad but without the KO finishes. He is ducking Usyk right now but Wilder, Whyte & Ruiz is a very solid run at HW.
Ruiz will be Wilder's second biggest after Fury, so if not Andy, the other options are Usyk, AJ, Joyce, Hrgovic and Zhang.
He wasn't pathetic against Ortiz, he won in a competitive fight. He did better than Wilder did the first time out against Ortiz, except he couldn't knock him out. He scored 3 knockdowns, and his chin held up against some sick shots.
Still, he's not in same level with Fury and Usyk. Fury will beat him remotely. Ruiz won't land a single paw on tall and skilled Fury's chin.
Let's get real. Ruiz is garbage. Looks aren't deceiving. He's an incredibly fat, lazy sloppy fake HW. He absorbed a combo from AJ and landed a lucky counter when he got up. That is basically it his whole career. In the rematch he was useless. He's in his 30s now and who has he beat outside of that first AJ fight? He beat Ortiz, a brand name who by that point had no chin, had been KO'd badly twice by Wilder and was mid 40s. Just wish he'd actually fight some better fighters so we can get rid of him from the conversation for good. If he actually beat a Wilder or some top HW who isn't way past it, I'd change my mind maybe. But until then he's just a grotesquely fat one-counter wonder who just got dropped by a way past-prime Arreola recently. Fury would mash his face in and get some kind of corner stoppage like the Chisora rematch probably. Fury knows Ruiz is garbage and won't pose any threat, but has a brand name, that's why he likes that fight.
The only way to protest in boxing is with your eyes and wallet. Keep giving them outs to get paid in fights we don’t want and we never get the fights we want. It’s not a dreadful fight. It’s just he has ducked Usyk
Ruiz is just another easy touch like Whyte and Chisora. The slob doesn’t even bother training for fights. Fury should just retire. He’s trying desperately to pull a Floyd and maneuver his way to an undefeated career instead of challenging the best and risk losing. At the same time he wants to pretend he’s this fearless warrior and true fighting man. The whole thing is a bit cynical really.
So in other words, after Fury ducked the unified champion for the second time in 12 months, he is fighting a nobody yet again. And you write it as a full-blown Fury vassal. Beautiful.
