People are really not getting this are they.

It's a soft stay busy fight while Joshua and Wilder have there soft stay busy/mandatory fights. Why is nobody directing stick at Joshua for fighting Miller who is probably as bad IF NOT WORSE than Schwarz or Dominic Breazeale who if you know anything about boxing has almost zero boxing skills and is a semi professional in the mould of Eric Molina. At least Schwarz is an unknown quantity and a PROFESSIONAL fighter. Miller is a certified Mathchroom hype job who they have been grooming for 3 years and gently selling to the public.

Remember Fury has stepped up to the plate TWICE and went ABROAD to face legitimate reigning world champions. The subconscious hatred and Fury bashing from some posters on here is disgraceful. Boxing is business and this fight is good business for all concerned.

Schwarz is number 2 in the WBO rankings and Tyson Fury is 4 so this absolutely the obvious and correct fight for Fury to take at this moment in his career. Give the guy a break and let him have his soft fight the same way the other top two are. I would imagine if Joshua and Wilder grow a pair and actually get in the ring (doubtful) the obvious next move for Fury would be Dillian Whyte putting his lineal title on the line in exchange for his two mandatory slots.

Miller is level above Brezeale and even Breazeale is levels above the De Mori level standard that is Schwarz.

The likes Rivas and even Jennings would be an acceptable stay busy fight but not Schwarz.

The first 5 rounds at least could be given to either man but were IMO Wilders based on aggression, punch effectiveness and taking control of the fight. The second 6 rds Fury was in charge, but he got dropped, twice. Again, it's all well and good doing a bigger version of the BJS slickster routine, you have to actually land effective punches and control the fight, which Fury didn't do demonstrably until the latter stages. When he got dropped.

And it's impossible to state "objectively". Everyone has biases. If you're aware of them, you can counter them to a degree.

    Let's not kid ourselves
I'm a huge Fury fan but this fight is a tick over but its also garbage
Miller would batter this guy and Breezale would KO him

Because Miller is a legitimate top ten contender and Schwarz is a nobody? WBO ? That's really funny!
Ps Joshua beat the **** out of Breazeale in his 17th fight.

Schwarz is probably worse than MIller, almost certainly.
And that's awful because Miller is rubbish and it's an indictment on the division if indeed he's "legit" ranked contender.
Schwarz may not be as bad as we think .... but then again, as some have suggested, he might well be "Mark De Mori" level.

..... AND Schwarz, whether he's really that bad or whether he's better than we expect, he's simply not interesting.
At least I understand the "Jarrell Miller" angle, a loudmouth Yank from NYC, makes a good foil for Joshua for casual fans at least.
Shwarz is just a bland German, as far as I can tell.

To be fair, Anthony Joshua holds the WBO title and is obligated to face a WBO mandatory from time to time, so the WBO's rankings are meaningful.

    Agreed
Miller at least is a lower top 10 heavyweight at the Ring/GBP, TRBR and Boxrec rankings. If he deserves to be is another matter, but we all know that Schwarz isn't even close to be in there.

Because it's not true. Miller is better than Breazeale and in a whole different league to Schwarz. Check the rankings.

Both pony fights but at least Miller comes with aggression and ambition.

Legitimate top 10? I could name at least 20 fighters including prospects and cruiser weights who would make mincemeat of 300lb Miller. Please tell me more about how he KO'd 41 year old cruiser weight Ademek.

Exactly my point. It's ok for the other two but not Fury who is coming of a concussive knockdown. At least Fury is fighting in Vegas and those going to watch him will have a cracking weekend regardless.

Would be a good fight and I would like to see it.

    Just rewatched the Fury Wilder fight. First time since the original, this time on BT's coverage. A few points;

    • BT coverage was markedly more balanced, well at least from Barry Jones. Rawlings however was appaling. The pair of them were desperately trying to make an argument for Fury early on when the rounds were at best even. "Fury is outboxing him". Gee, really?
    • How on earth anyone can say this was some conspiracy tier robbery is genuinely beyond me. Given the two KD's, if you were being very generous Fury was ahead 2-3 points at the absolute most, and that's if you awarded the close early rounds to Fury.
    • While Wilder has freakish power for a guy who weighs a cruiser, his style is so bad for scoring as he misses so much. It makes him look amateurish and whoever he's fighting look like Pernell Whitaker and takes away from the epic jab he possesses when he uses it properly as well as the short hooks he throws to the body on the inside.
    • Wilder hurt Fury a hell of a lot more than I remember. Some of his jabs noticeably stunned Fury and some of the hooks that clipped him buzzed the hell out of him.
    • Fury did land some quality right hands to be fair, more than I remember and got through more around the guard as well. His evasiveness for a big man is clearly a one-off, just a shame he lacks the offence as well.
    • The first Fury KD was a lot more emphatic than I remember, he was clearly hurt as opposed to off balance like a lot made out after.
And finally, and most controversially, I actually think Joshua gives Fury one hell of a hard day at the office.

Fury isn't as good as evading big swingers as is made out, at least going off Wilder. Joshua is much much more accurate than Wilder, and is better at applying controlled pressure which is when Fury was in most danger. Fury was truly an extremely lucky man Wilder is too off balance to finish him in the 12th. Joshua would have had him out I'm almost certain of it.

I cannot fathom how anyone could conceivably have scored all 5 first rounds to Wilder. 3,4,5 were clear Fury rounds. The first two were relatively close, watching the fight live and watching it back I split them 1-1 both times. The best scorecard I can make for Wilder is 8-4 Fury with the two knockdowns making it 114-112. I can also see 115-111 (what I think it should be) and even 116-110.
