Are you really trying to make this argument? I didn't see Fury accepting to fight for free, so it's irrelevant. Usyk accepted Fury's ever changing demands, then Fury got scared and bailed. Funny how both Usyk and AJ can agree to fight no problem, but when they try and fight Fury it's nothing but issues. Gee I wonder what the common denominator is there...
“Without any prize money” Can you see Fury being willing to fight in a match without any prize money?
Go watch old fights with your kid. True warriors like Hagler, Hearns, Morales, Ali etc. Then make him box and run on the beach, yelling warrr warrr!!
So you're upset because rather than accepting a minimum amount to try and achieve fights faster, that he wasn't holding up the division by being a diva like most boxers seem to do these days by holding out for a few extra percent?
Well, Joshua's team demanded an 80-20 split in the UK when Usyk was owed, at minimum, a 75-25 split. If the rematch was in the UK, too, I highly doubt Joshua would've even taken the rematch. Certainly not for only 50 percent of the take. Fury has been making like 80 percent of the purse against Whyte and Chisora (maybe even more) in the UK. As soon as the Saudi fight with Usyk fell apart, there wasn't enough money on the table in the UK to realistically appease him. He didn't want to take less money than he made for Whyte and Chisora to unify all the belts against Usyk. If Fury fights anyone next in the UK, he'll make more than he would've made against Usyk, because of the purse split he'll demand. If fans in the UK want the mega-fights there, they just having to be willing to pay for like $90 PPVs. If they did, the top fighters could split their purses 50-50 and make what they expect. Since fans don't, they need some Saudi billionaire to cut a check. We've been paying that much for PPVs for 10 years. Pay that much, and Fury and Joshua will fight against anyone in the UK and purse splits won't be a big deal.
