With Tysons relatively easy victory over long time champ Wlad, if he does it again in this summers looming rematch, would it be too far fetched to say his resume is at least on par with the elder klits.... Let's take a look! Tyson fury Elite wins - wlad x 2 Very good wins - chisora x 2, hammer, kingpin, Cunningham Vit Klits - elite wins - ZERO Good wins - Chris nipples, adamek, chisora (struggled) , gomez, sanders, Peter - notable losses - old Lewis and quit against Byrd - negatives- title defences against sosnowski etc I believe if fury beats wlad just as easily in summer a solid case can be made for fury having the better record.
That's absolutely insane. Fury has a bigger win than either K brother, for that matter has a bigger win than anyone in HW history except Tunney, Marciano, Frazier, Holmes, and a bunch of lesser hw's who have also stolen victories from top 10 ATG heavyweights. That alone doesn't rise him above ATG heavyweights like Vitali (and Dempsey, Johnson, Sullivan, Jeffries, Patterson, and other top 25 ATG's who don't have a victory against other top 25 ATG's). Vitali has wins against Sanders and Peter, both of whom are at least fringe top 50ATG's. He has wins against other top 10ish for the year heavyweights including Hide, Johnson, Gomez, Arreola, Solis, Adamek, and Chisora. He has the 2nd highest ko percentage of all retired HW champs. He has the highest rounds won percentage of any HW champ in history. His only two losses were by injury. He is the only top 25 ATG hw who has never been knocked down. He's a fringe top 10 ATG and indisputable top 25 ATG. Apart from Wlad, Fury has only beat two fringe top 10 hw's, Chisora and Cunningham. He's been floored twice and struggled in many of his matches. Fury, looking at fighters in similar positions historically, has a great chance to become a top 25 ATG, and a decent chance of passing Vitali by the end of his career. But he's no where remotely close to it yet.
Your rationale also collapses under the weight of its own "logic". By that standard, Corrie Sanders has a better resume than Vitali (and Ross Purrity as well). Except, huh, guess what, Vitali beat Sanders (and Purrity), so I guess he's got the better resume after all, doesn't he.
Tunney Dempsey. Holmes Ali and Marciano Louis. Of course, the latter two were shot, so they weren't really better wins, but it was just for the sake of argument, trying to give the OP some type of argument.
The latter two were so shot it's not even their best wins. And Dempsey better W than Wlad? I'd disagree with that too.
Not comparable. I'm not impressed by Vitalis resume the least bit but it looks like a hall of fame comparing it to Furys, Wlad aside. Might as well say Danny Williams has a better resume than Vitali. atsch
Vitali's one of my favs but that Wlad win > ANy single victory of Vitali's entire career. Would not be the case if Vitali beat Lewis, but he didn't. So Fury has the best single HW win in the last DECADE :deal 1. Lewis beating Vitali 2. Fury beating Wlad 2 best HW wins in the 21st century
What about Sanders and Brewster's wins over Wlad? If your rationale is that Wlad wasn't a dominant champ back then (although he was a dominant "belt holder", against Sanders), then the Lewis win over Vitali needs to go out the window too. Personally, I think the Lewis Klitschko fight was the best HW fight of the 21st Century, maybe the best of all time. But it's not the biggest "win". Vitali was too inexperienced and the result didn't leave an objective observer with no doubt as to who the better h2h hw was.
Yes, but if fury does it twice? (Which he will) For me that his resume is much stronger than brother vits. Must suck for Vitali fans
