Just a thought, if Joshua, Wilder or Whyte had beaten Wallin on points and left the ring with a cut like that they'd get heavily criticised, no doubt about it.

Just watched the fight. I’ll be as objective as I can. Firstly, I think Fury was trying to fight in a manner and style that would win him New Mexican fans. That’s part self marketing and a huge part inflated ‘ego’. This realistically could have cost him the fight not only with the cut but with that big left hand in the 12th that wobbled him. I’m surprised nobody has made more of that shot, because he was rocked to his boots. That said, from round 6 that was a really entertaining fight. I gave Wallin 3 rounds, 2 in the first 6 rounds and the 12th, I accept there’s an argument for 4 rounds but ultimately it was a clear Fury win. I was really impressed with Wallin’s durability. He actually reminded me of Skoglund (Swedish and tough) the way he stuck in there and he landed some lovely shots and had success throwing right after eating a shot. This was mainly because Fury was admiring his work instead of stepping out of trouble. I also liked how Wallin worked the cut, even when it was blatant. Gotta admire the dark arts every so often. Round 8, 9, 10 in particular, Fury could have got a stoppage. Some of them shots were brutal. He threw some beautiful shots. To summarise, Fury could have boxed a very safe 12 rounds on the backfoot. There would have probably been boos if he had. 117-111. Well done Wallin, hope he gets some big fights from that.
Just to add, Wilder will be licking his lips with that performance and saying bring it on. Ironically, and I mean this generally, poor performances can get you the fights you want, and excellent ones can mean that nobody will go near you.
I'd tend to agree with this. Fury was doing a modern day heavyweight job on Wallin before the cut. And what I mean is, fury was doing what klitscho did to everyone else for years, jab and grab. It's the modern style for heavyweights, wilder and Joshua are the exception. That cut was as bad as you can get. Don't think for one minute that didn't change the whole complexion of the fight. Fury might have looked sloppy, but if that cut didn't happen, fury would have stopped Wallin in the mid to late rounds.
Just mirrors AJ in looking too far ahead but luckily for Fury he wasn’t fighting Ruiz. Hope this is a wake up call for all British fighters that to leave a legacy you need to treat each fight as a defining fight or you soon get brushed aside. HW Boxing is tough and no matter who you are things can go very wrong. I’m actually concerned that the cut is that bad it may not be until next summer before he fights again but will Wilder be around to fight then ( as in he may have already set another fight up by then......AJ or Ruiz ). Wilder would have jumped on that cut with huge effect imo.
So now the fight is all done and dusted how do you boys rate Wallin now? Do you think he will get far, I was really impressed with him and he seems like such a nice bloke, like @Twentyman said I hope he gets some big fights off the back of this. Already had someone text me saying Fury fought like this on purpose to lure in Wilder into the rematch lmao, I'm not too sure. Last round was amazing, respect to Wallin for really going for it and respect to Fury for getting the W.
Fury didn’t have to lure Wilder in. The rematch was already on the table once and rejected by Fury and secondly it was on the table again. Wilder hasn’t been hiding from it, it’s mandated. As for Wallin I still rate him outside the top 15. Id pick the likes of Chisora to destroy him. Fury’s poor performance and lack of punch power made Wallin out to be better than he is.
Absolutely. Fury chose to fight Wallin, rather than box him. When Fury boxes and moves he's almost impossible to hit as we've seen against Klitschko, Chisora, Hammer and Wilder fights.
Imagine if Fury trained weeks for Miller and then, last minute, he got Ruiz jnr, how do you think that would go? I know I'm straight up comparing him to AJ but he's brought the comparisons on with his words, opponents and last night. I quite like both but I think Fury might struggle.
Wallin is a decent fighter and a tough man, maybe now people will stop underestimating Heavyweight unknowns before they step in. Wallin actually looked ok in previous fights and sized up well, we need to give these guys a chance before writing them off. It’s no Haye v Gjergaj or De Mori situation.
Wilder landed 71 shots to Fury's 84 when they fought including two which dropped him. 'Almost impossible to hit.'
