Is it possible that Fury vs Whyte is selling better because Whyte is in hiding ? Personally I think everyone involved is lucky that Whyte is crazy and afraid.
Whyte is training, he is getting a fixed fee/purse, no chance to earn from PPV etc so why would he break training, travel back from Europe to promote the fight, that is not hiding that in fact is what any right minded person would do in that situation. Whyte crazy? By his own statements it has been certainly in the past Fury who admitted to having crazy thoughts. With regard of Whyte being afraid, what is there to be afraid of? If you mean he is afraid of Tyson Fury, then seriously give your head a wobble. Fury might well win, he might win by clear margin or he might knock Whyte out, however Fury is just another opponent who could/might do those things. Damned if i fought Fury he would part me from my consciousness in double quick time, and likely leave me looking like a car crash victim, however if i was earning Whytes purse i would not be afraid, i would be thinking of my millionaire bank balance. In fact i might be uttering a new version of the phrase that Jess Willard uttered to himself while sat on the stool after defeat and extensive beating by Jack Dempsey: “I have $100,000 and a farm in Kansas … I have $100,000 and a farm in Kansas …”
It's selling because Fury is a massive draw and most people know Whyte in the UK - plus we have been starved of big heavyweight fights in the UK. Anyone who didn't think it would sell well given the above, is an idiot.
Whyte is right to give them nothing. Ryanair flight tickets, only 6 tickets for the fight. If that's how they want to treat him then they can't expect him to do any promotion.
Correct but still a daft thing to do. Leaving aside the damage it's done to his business standing in boxing, the arrangements in fight week will all be down to Warren. I doubt he's going to have a pleasant time in the run up to this fight.
Whyte is revealing himself to be petty and unprofessional. If he is planning this to be his last payday then OK I guess. Good job cementing your negative legacy pal.
Been thinking this since the start. More people are talking about Whyte not promoting it than they are the fight itself.
I don't care about the promotion aspect of the fight. All I care for is that they enter the ring at the date and time they're supposed to. Business wise, this is clearly Toprank/Warren/Fury's problem, obviously not Whyte's. Does he burn bridges? Probably. Will he care much? Probably not.
