Solid numbers should be celebrated. I don't like AJ but I respect him and welcome the numbers he brings to the sport because it keeps boxing up there as the most popular combat sport worldwide. I just can't get my head around people wishing viewing figures to be small. By all means, wish for a fighter to lose if you dislike them. But hoping for fights to fail commercially means your hate of a fighter exceeds your love of the sport. Strange mentality.

BT sport has reportedly 1.8 million subscribers, seems pretty far fetched that a quarter of the entire subscriber base bought this ppv at 4am.

It wasn't on BT sport. It was on BT PPV. All BT tv customers could access it surely?

Surely the contract was offered because Arum saw Fury as a way to get some involvement in the potential Joshua Fury fight which would be massive.

I don't wish for them to be small. I just think they were small. I don't believe these figures for a second.

The fight was available via the Sky Platform and virgin media too. It’s not hard to believe it done those numbers

I'm sure that was a factor also, perhaps the primary one. A strong performance in the Wilder fight would only bolster the chances of making that fight though in any case.

Also BT have some link with EE and I'm sure EE is the biggest mobile operator in the UK? I bought the fight and added it to my mobile phone bill. Had a couple of emails promoting the fight before hand but I was going to buy it anyway.

Well 325k in America is official. If you think 450k UK is crazy then you're living under a rock, ignorant, or both. They're logical figures.

I would be shocked if it even did half of this unsubstantiated, random number.

If 450k was an accurate figure, why would Warren or BT be keeping tight lipped ?

For what it’s worth I believe a successful Tyson Fury is good for British Boxing. I just don’t accept numbers plucked from the air.

I don't think expressing scepticism about the 450k number neccesarily equates to hoping the number be small though?

BT advertising the Fury PPV and people are wondering if the opponent was the ex Arsenal Player

If it had been in the UK those figures would be very believable. But I can't see that 450k separate PPV's were purchased for a fight that was on at 4 am!! Put it another way, let's say on average 3 people were viewing per PPV sold (probably more
on average when factoring in bars / clubs etc.)But even at 3, a low average of heads per PPV, this equates to just under 1.5 million people. Does anyone truly believe nearly 1.5 million people were up at 4 am watching Fury ( coming off two stinkers of fights) Vs Wilder ( just some random realtively unknown American guy) It is in no way realistic. I'd presume 450k was the total, considering around 325 k PPV were sold in America!!

In what way are they 'logical' figures?

Tyson was booed out of the ring in his fight immediately before this one. His last big PPV was a complete stinker. It's also on a platform that gets so much less coverage than Sky, in the middle of the night. Do I really think more people bought this than, say, Lewis Holyfield? No. Froch Groves II? No chance.
