Furys jabs were staggering Wilder and Wilder s right hand in the first round had no effect on Fury... and that was literally all Wilder had, once Fury didn't go down like the chinny bums he's been matched with the last 5 years including the fat mess he fought in the first fight, Wilder shat his knickers and as David Haye (who couldn't stop blowing Wilder before the fight)said : Wilder is out of ideas already this is what happens when you have a 40 fight padded record against guys tailor made for you, you have no tucking clue what to do when actually facing an opponent who can fight, not only did he not come in with more than one g ameplan, he didn't even have more than one punch!! I'm really surprised how much experienced boxing fans fell for the smoke and mirrors, you cannot just bring a straight right hand into a world class fight and think that's going to be enough, and he has a hell of a lot of problems taking a punch himself. Fury might very well end his career in ugly Calzaghe-Lacy exams fashion. They wouldn't pull Lacy out because of DAT PUNCH POWER but I'm afraid that's just not enough at top level
I backed Fury in both fights. I said on here that I felt Fury would walk him down and stop him. I’m not some anti Fury poster. He got hit hard numerous times in the first couple of rounds. Fury rode the shots beautifully but facts are that Wilder was able to find him with the right hand. I’d back Fury to beat him again in the 3rd fight but you can’t write off Wilder. He’s a huge puncher and if he lands clean he can knock Fury out. Wilder will shift that extra weight in the rematch so Fury will need to be switched on at all times.
Exactly it wilder was that split second faster he could have got a KD atleast. Wonder if Fury will approach the fight in the same way again?
Wilder can't beat him, it was eerily similar to Calzaghe Lacy in that Lacy was a guy who had been outboxed but bailed out by his power numerous times, he landed a massive right hand in the first round then when nothing happened he had absolutely no idea what to do, and the rest is history, Wilder cannot beat Fury, and I have also always felt Wilder s power to be overrated anyway, it's all well and good when he throws punches from the moon, but when guys are good enough to see them coming they don't have the same effect, George Foreman could NO a man with a punch that travelled less than 2 inches. I think that extra weight on Wilder massively hindered him not only with the gas tank but with his speed. I think he should use the same tactics, educated pressure, push the bully back by working behind that jab. He just needs to calm down with throwing that right hand, I thought he was a bit sloppy with the timing and distance of it at times. Great performance but plenty of improvement there.
I hope you’re right, but I don’t think you can ever write off a fighter with a proven ability to spark an opponent out with a single shot.
He can't jab, because he has never learned to use it, because he's never had to,he's never outjabbing Fury
I never mentioned Wilder’s jab, I was referencing Fury’s. Wilder can throw a jab, but there’s no real purpose to it. He doesn’t seem to know how to use it as a platform for his right hand. He just throws it as a single scoring shot.
Indeed, problem is though when you're used to doing that and then you fight a guy who doesn't fall over when you hit him, you question everything, Wilder s confidence will be at rock bottom and he's far too stuck in his ways after 43 fights to make any drastic changes, you'd at least think at this point her have learned not telegraph his right hand so much, but like I said he's never had to and I think it's a bit too late to start now
