Wlad at his root was a big slugger with great footwork. He was not a fluid boxer like his brother Vitali.

What style works best against sluggers? Boxers.

However, in the past because of Wlad's great footwork, no boxer could beat him.

I made a thread way back in 2007 where I said Valuev would be a stylistic nightmare for Wlad because Valuev was a boxer, and Wlad would have a lot of trouble fighting a tall boxer. Of course, that fight never happened.

Recently, I said that Wilder had a great chance to beat Wlad because Wilder is a tall boxer. If I would have known that Fury was capable of boxing like this, I would have picked Fury, but I haven't watched him fight.

This is what happens when you fight the right style.

And even then, suppose you're a great boxer at lower levels, but you move up a weight class and fight a great boxer at that weight class. Well, in that case, you have to adapt your style and pressure fight the guy to win, throwing a volume of punches.

Wlad needed to adapt, get low, make himself a small target, move his head as he punches at angles, and attack the body.

Does anyone honestly see him doing this again?

Mayweather avoided Margarito, even when he was on juice (confirmed by having the T to E ratio of a 127 1/2 year old man) because Mayweather knew Margarito would push his **** in.

Mayweather barely got past Maidana, as the judges robbed Maidana in the first fight.

This is also why Mayweather didn't fight Paul Williams.

I don't think he can. Vitali was a more natural fighter, but Wlad is stronger and hits harder. No style is unbeatable.

The only guy that came close was Robinson because he had KO power in both hands, he knew when he had to box, and he knew when he had to kill his opponent.

Who's trying to sugar coat anything?

When did I become a Kli****.

Who do you think made the most famous thread on ESB, where I said Wlad would be crawling on his hands and knees after he fought Haye.

Unfortunately, that didn't play out like my thread suggested, but I'm definitely not a Kli****.

I'll be honest, I fast forwarded some of that fight.

I would like to call Wladimir as something like an "outside striker" rather than a slugger. He is definitely not a fluid boxer like Leonard. Footwork, speed, balance and timing is superb in straight lines with perfect technique.

Size and workrate are Mayweather's weakness. An avenue for such opponents to compete against him.
Margarito and Williams both were tall fighters with workrates.
Maidana and DLH both troubled Mayweather immensely.

Khan who's called out Mayweather for years also is a fighter that is tall and has long arms. A fighter with youth, speed, and size, and a fighter that Mayweather has stayed clear of.

Wlad knows only one way to fight, and that is tall, so when you have a fighter his size in front of him, he doesn't have the versatitily to do anything else but to fight tall.
We saw how he was tryin to jab and lean back to avoid the return shot as if Fury was the smaller fighters he had been fighting.

Yeah, I agree. I this case it was an issue of size, not style.

I think it was a combination of both. A small boxer wouldn't have much success with Wlad.
