80/20 is a joke but at least it now creates clarity. I don't see any deal being achieved though and Whyte will do the smart thing and let it go to purse bids as DAZN will overpay to get the fight on the platform so that 20% will stretch further for him.

The other option is legal advise regarding the WBC rulebook and whether Whyte can argue that the WBC's own rules are not being applied here.

For all the 'iconic green belt' stuff I find the administration of the WBC amateurish and borderline corrupt. Whether it's purse splits or creating things like the franchise title to benefit certain fighters they just are a rule into themselves with no oversight.

I think that's fair. Whyte is a plodder who's best wins are a post covid corpse in Povetkin and a journeyman in Chisora, he got a shocking decision against paint dry Parker.

If the fight generates 20 mill, then 4 mill would be more than enough for Whyte.

Good. I’ve never rated or liked Whyte.

I don't see why DAZN why overbid though on someone who is likely to lose. It would be a lose lose for DAZN. The fight won't generate what both fighters want and the "home" fighter has little chance of winning realistically.

Now if they were confident of Whyte winning which would lead to more defences of that WBC belt then you can make a case for them overbidding but instead all they'd be doing is funding Whyte's cashout fight.

Happy to be proven wrong though on DAZN actually overbidding for the fight.

Boss have you actually thought this through.... Do you honestly think that DAZN are going to sanction a purse bid which would have to be around at least $80m?

This is bareing in mind that Whyte will probably make around $10m through the Top Rank deal that he’s already been offered and the 80/20 split.

There is absolutely no chance that is going to happen, it is beyond nuts.

Whyte should just get a deal done - he can’t beat the WBC & everybody involved.

Absolute justice, he has dodged some world titles fights or actual eliminators, now it's put up or shut up, he will silly money and potentially win a world title, he is just a young Chisora, a plodder.

When I say overpay I mean Hearn will make sure he wins the purse bid not that DAZN will pay whatever it takes to get Whyte to the purse he thinks 45% would be.

The interviews I've seen Hearn asked about this is his basically said they will go big in a purse bid to get the fight so its kinda a win win for Whyte. Either DAZN get the fight or if Arum and Warren are so determined for the fight to not land on DAZN that it causes top rank to pay more than originally planned to win and Whyte's 20% becomes a bigger number.

I would be surprised if Whyte's manager and Hearn don't tell Whyte to let it go to purse bids.

Purse bids benefit both fighters if both platforms are adamant on getting the fight just the difference being I don't think Hearn would be disappointed if he lost the bid and Whyte got more money in the process.

What will 20% add up to do you think? Four million ish? Based on Fury-Wilder 3?

Whyte isn’t a name in the US. So no interest there. It will be a massive fight in the UK though. No reason not to make the fight now

Yeah, it's a massive fight here but i'm wondering how that will add up for him in terms of dolla dolla. I mean 20% can be a lot or a little.

Who gives a **** about the splits. I just want to see the best fight the best. Whether it’s 80/20 50/50 30/70 I don’t care. At least we’re a step closer to the fight as opposed to Fury vs ****ing Helenius.

There’s no way that DAZN will risk winning that fight - not at the money it will cost them and the huge liabilities involved. They’ve never done a PPV, they dont broadcast in pubs/clubs and casinos...they just don’t have the facilities to host that fight...,there platform don’t even have on demand purchasing options.

Eddie should hire protection to safeguard him from Dillian and his Brother- they must be furious with him.

It has to be a decent enough chunk of change. You’d think at least £4mil, given the gate and a bona fide PPV hit. And hes fighting the unbeaten champ for the WBC. At least WBC have made the call instead of the posturing. Hoping this gets made now will be a lot of fun.
