An interesting concept would be for everyone to box each other before facing the same opponent again. As long as boxing governance is so fragmented, the fans will never win, and the guys at the top will continue to play the same tune as long as it suits them financially. I have said countless times that I would like to see Fury, Wilder, Usyk and Joshua all face off against each other, and that we wouldn't know who the best in the division and era is until all of these guys face each other - and now there's the likes of Joe Joyce who could maybe beat one or more of these (perceived) top guys. I do agree with you, but I do not agree with people on here - normally Matchroom diehards like Scissors, Brixton Bombers, Mitch, ukboxingfan and all of them who constantly harp on about "clearing out he division", "top 10 contenders" and other such nonsense. One victory against a top fighter means more than beating 10 Moinas, Pulevs, Takams, Martins, Breazeales, Paint Drys etc. I would rather see Fury Wilder 10 times than see Fury box Pulev, Takam and Molina.
The Heavyweights should fight 3-4 times per year and the belts should not be held hostage by Rematch clauses. The way things are going, Joe Joyce is going to be older than George Foreman in his comeback before he gets a shot.
Perhaps because: 1. Whyte hasn't agreed to the fight 2. Fury wants to fight soon, and Helenius is available. 3. Whyte won't sign to fight. 4. Whyte wants more money. 5. Whyte doesn't really want it. I don't think Fury should stoop to Helenius. They should try hard to get Ruiz or someone better than Helenius. But it's becoming obvious Whyte can get it if he wants it. I think Whyte will have to accept the 20% but if he wants to spend the next half year delaying it, Fury should fight someone else. Eveyone complains about inactivity but then some of you think it's okay for Fury to be kept out of the ring while Whyte quarrels about the split, Whyte who has been out of the ring for ages and pulled out of a fight just a couple of months ago. Now looking to cash out for retirement. Boxing fans want boxing, not courtroom drama.
Boxing fans want: 1 Usyk and Joshua to fight their rematch, around April or May, no later. 2. Fury to fight someone around the same time. Preferably Whyte, to get rid of this nonsense. But if Whyte's not available, it has to be someone else. 3. The winners of those two bouts to match up for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world, sometime late summer or early autumn. That's what any sane boxing fan wants. That's the big picture. And it shouldn't be too hard to arrange. I have no doubt that Usyk, Fury and Joshua have no problems with fulfilling their parts in that plan. But you do have to wonder about Eddie Hearn and Dillian Whyte now. If I was Eddie Hearn looking at it, I wouldn't fancy my prospects much.
I generally agree but would Rice Pudding Jr really be significantly harder than Helenius? Rice Pudding Jr literally got dropped by a shot to pieces, formerly retired Arreola who is in his 40s. He looked awful. Apart from the first Joshua bout he hasn't done anything. He couldn't even wobble Arreola, like he couldn't wobble a shot to pieces Liakhovich years ago. I would rather see Fury in with someone harder than either of them, but Ruiz and Helenius are two cheeks of the same arse to me.
Ruiz might be an easy fight for Fury but he's never been stopped, he held the WBA, WBO and IBF belts a couple of years ago and he's 32 years old. It keeps him in the top 10 for now. Helenius's credentials are that he beat that fat kid Kownacki a couple of times. That's good for him but he's 38, has lost to such men as Whyte, Duhaupas and Washington in the past, and even in his prime was exposed by Chisora. I think Ruiz adds something, a little, to Fury's record. As for Arreola, yes he was 40 and washed up, but he actually came to that fight with Ruiz in great shape, the lightest he had ever been. And Arreola came to win because this was a fight all the Hispanics and Mexicans and Chicano boxing fans took an interest in. Getting rocked and dropped by an old but fit and motivated Arreola and then taking over to WIN the fight can't be much worse than needing a rematch clause to get past an old Povetkin.
Again, you're wrong. How have you got both subscriptions but hate Eddie & AJ? You probably sing "American Pie" on the way to collect your Giro.
It doesn't matter if Arreola was motivated. He is still crap. Helenius is no world beater, but I don't think he's much worse than Rice Pudding Jr. They are on a similar sort of level. It would be fun to see Fury in with Rice Pudding Jr because Fury would really batter him - and hurt him a lot, put a lot of suffering on him and knock him out. It would therefore be interesting to see what some of Joshua's finest apologists on the forum would say. I really don't want to see him in with Helenius, and a Rice Pudding Jr destruction would annoy a lot of people, so I'd prefer that. Rice Pudding Jr is not even a fringe level contender, and he still battered Joshua. I still can't believe that. Man, it's still so, so sweet.
