Yes exactly.. but I don’t really get what your point is. All heavyweights do that to an extent - hence why the division exists.
I dont think it is naivety, I genuinely believe Fury has a strong voice and he can dictate these little details. What career decisions has Fury made do you think that demonstrates he is motivated by money?
A strong voice perhaps, but he’s not the only stakeholder in that decision. Perhaps he is saying that? How do we know he isn’t? As for money motivated - Choosing to sign with ESPN and fight in the US for a start. Not donating his purse as he suggested prior to Wilder.
Ok.. I’d argue that Wilder 2 and 3 were about as entertaining as HW fights get.. that’s a better comparison than a 7 year old away victory against a reigning champ where he needed to be a spoiler and punch perfect to get a decision.
Well I am of the opinion he left UK because he failed to make a splash here, with AJ getting all the love and attention so he had no choice to move to USA. Arum was sititing on a pile of cash from ESPN and he HW scene has been lacklustre for so long in the USA, so as one last Hurrah he aimed to use Fury as a tool to rejuvenate the scene but it backfired when the shows started making losses. Fury didnt care because he was contracted to earn a specific amount, but fact is Arum was topping up Furys purse to cover the lack of money generated from some of his fights. I think this was reported in the media, the financial losses. Anyways I admire your fierce support for Fury, Impressive that you rate him so highly. Yeah that purse donation stunt was another clown act, I mean shouldnt make jokes like that. Lol maybe Fury should plead insane, then we can't really hold him accountable for anything can we?
You didn't say that though You said that AJ dealt with Wlad better, that's not true Maybe it's time to admit that you know nothing about boxing, try sticking to the reddit pages perhaps? Seems your level of knowledge
I haven’t said in this debate that I rate him ‘so highly’? I do rate him, but I think him vs Usyk is very close.
Just to add to this @Aydamn, from your comment I replied to above I suspect you think everyone is debating every point in the same space as you - ie a massive fanboy of a particular fighter. I don’t think this is the case - people are pretty objective about Fury on this forum. He’s clearly very good but has weaknesses both as a fighter and as a man.
This thread is now farcical. British forum was once a peaceful domain. It's such a shame. We have a user in here literally suggesting that Fury's nine-figure career earnings are down to luck, and that someone who earned £300,000 in his last fight is more popular. I'll let others waste their precious time with this guy.
Yeah I meant both points, I can make multiple points in a post or argument, relax buddy. AJ did it in 11 rounds, with a TKO. Was entertaining, and he also showed he can absorb Wlads best shot.
The ratio, on this forum is 95 % applaud Fury, 5% criticize him That ratio is reversed for Whyte. Just trying to understand how Fury got this chuck norris reputation, only on this website... given his last best legitimate win was 7 years ago, and he ha since gone to to be in absolute stinkers...outside the Wilder fights. A lot of double standards! Just can't let that fly. The primary issue is Fury claiming he is the greatest, and the forum reiterating it. This makes it worse
I don’t think it’s that deep. Most people on this board recognise him as number 1 in the division - but there’s legitimate debate about the depth of his ‘resume’ and what his legacy will be. Without putting words into peoples mouths - the general consensus seems to be he’s probably the best HW right now however Usyk would be a real test. He needs a couple more big wins (Usyk, Joshua and someone like Whyte) for legacy reasons too. People know he’s inconsistent and hypocritical - but that’s how he’s always been. Is your problem with Fury personally or rather that you feel Whyte is devalued on this forum? Just trying to understand it because you don’t seem to have the same issues with other HWs.
I used to dislike him, on a much lower level than you, up to the Wladmir Klitschko win masterminded by Peter 'Tony Pullis' Fury, which was the biggest stinker seen in a boxthing ring. Since the comeback started from a seriously obese position, to fighting the long reigning World Champion, the current hardest hitting KO artist away from home within 1 year simply sensational as was remaining undefeated. Rising from the canvas in round 12 in above fight again simply sensational. Bashing Wilder up in the rematch and then winning the best World Heavyweight Championship trilogy fight for decades simply sensational. The Undefeated Lineal World Heavyweight Champion is a living legend and Whyte is a Pudding as seen clearly in the small, old Pedvetkin fight when he faced the Sky in Eh Day's back garden. Hope that helps aid your understanding.
My issue is Fury being overvalued and being placed on a pedestal head and shoulders above Whyte. Yes I feel Whyte is not valued enough on the forum (undervalued/underrated) which seems to be ironic in that he checks a lot of the checkboxes that forum posters tend to complain about. I.e. not challenging oneself, taking on harder fights, staying active, showing up to fight, consistency, strong resume... I know I am not imagining things when I see whyte constantly berated and thrown under the bus on this forum, its not me thinking too deeply about it. I've always given fair credit to fighters that show up to fight, take challenges... its good for the sport. Hence my appreciation for Hughie Fury,
