I think it comes under the retirement category as there is nowhere else for Wilder to go. He knows if he doesn't get this fight he will have to fight lesser opponents for less money and will likely lose. I actualy feel sorry for him cos he is coming to the realisation that all he believed he was is false. You have to fear for his mental state if he loses again which he likely will.
Yeah, negotiations never bode well with these two. Where would the demand be? well I for one would like to see that fight. I've been wanting to see if for years now. If Joshua can cross Wilders name off his list of opponents beaten, then (later on down the track) no-one can say 'Joshua never fought Wilder though'. Say Joshua faces and beats Fury to become undisputed, who would the people like to see next? Pulev? Whyte? pulling up Usyk and Dubois will draw a lot of interest but one name will always linger and thats Deontay Wilder. You mentioned that Wilder will need to lose to Fury (if he does) by the narrowest of margins and I think that would be important.
And that makes it unlikely really. Wilder has been in the ring with Fury how many rounds total, I think 19 or something close to that? He won 2 of those. IMO, if Wilder loses again, he loses clearly again.
1. - He really thinks he can win. And honestly, who can blame him? I have been one of his biggest critics, but that right hand of his is no joke and always has the potential to end a fight. Couple that with Fury and which form he turns up in, because you never really know. He looked like a 10/10 against Wilder, but a 5/10 against Wallin. Do I believe he can win? Not really, think he would get destroyed again.
Wilder is a very stubborn person, so he definitely thinks he can beat Fury. Wilder’s stubbornness and confidence in his power is both his biggest strength and weakness. Wilder’s confidence in his ability isn’t something you can teach, but the downside is that it also makes him uncoachable. I also think it was a big mistake for Wilder to come in as heavy as he did. Coming in at your heaviest for the biggest fight of your career isn’t a good idea. Wilder at 230 lbs had no speed at all or upperbody movement and considering his poor footwork and defense Wilder doesn’t have the luxury to make himself slower and an easier target.
But Fury has shown that he can get up form that right hand when he is at 50%, and take it flush when he is at 100%. So how do was get to the right hand "always having the potential to end a fight," when it clearly doesn't? Wilder has no chance.
He aint cashing out He thinks he can win and of course he has a punchers chance and a a very good punch to go with it but the bravado and confidence is thin After all the PBC cult finish bigging him up and boosting his ego, the reality wiill kick in that Fury is just too much for him And by that time he will be in the ring alone and Haymons HW hope slowly becomes a sacrificial lamb for him
I agree that it would be HIGHLY unlikely. I would not agree that Wilder has “no chance”. Let me put it this way - If Fury were to approach a rematch with the same sentiment, that Wilder has no chance, I would consider it a problem. Remember, this is heavyweight boxing.
He is that deluded, he will soon swear he saw Tupac in the crowd and it really affected him, and continues to affect him to THIS DAY!!
