At the time when we were due to get an announcement and people said it won’t happen I said “there’s not a chance this doesn’t happen, all parties have committed to much to it with their statements and flying out to Belfast etc”. Now I’m extremely sceptical this happens, this year at least. How can you announce a fight is going to be on BT PPV and a month later still not have a date/time/venue/country/anything.
I thought it was nailed on as well. Now it has to be a massive question mark. I would be gutted if this fight does not happen
Gotta admit I'm not sure what is going to happen. They made too much noise for this fight to not happen but I'm having serious doubts. Thing is Wilders team made such a huge fuss about Hearn sending a contract with no date or venue but what the **** is this all about?
Difference is there I guess they were not in control of them, where as in this scenario they are in control
Just think how ridiculous it would be if we had more fights from other promoters announced like this. Would be a total farce. It amazes me that Warren and Finkel thought it was a good idea to announce a fight knowing it was nowhere near close to be being finalised.
Ok, so Haymon/Wilder have announced it now, so fair enough - I guess it’s all systems go.. This content is protected
I'm going to be frank here (pun not intended), but if you have doubts about this going ahead with huge broadcasting backing then to be honest, you're being too cynical for your own good.
I think that’s a bit harsh to be honest. As I’ve said if you look at my earlier posts about this fight I was adamant it would happen. It’s a month later, we’ve had no press conference, we’ve got no venue, we’ve only just this morning got a date. Announcements have been delayed or just haven’t came, press conferences have been planned and then cancelled. You can’t blame people for being sceptical here.
