It was the worst HW championship fight I can remember. Fury refusing to engage. Vlad cautious as usual but a little too long in the tooth to chase Fury down.

    It was a horrible spectacle.

It was a convincing win, a wide UD victory over a long reigning champion.

Ultimately, Fury did what no other Wlad opponent could do, victory didn’t come by way of a lucky punch against a relative novice, Fury completely out classed a battle hardened super experienced version of Klitschko.

I agree with some of what you said, I wouldn’t say it was a horrible spectacle though, a shocking spectacle is the way I’d describe it.

It was a memorable spectacular in that there was almost no action.

The old adage that you have to beat a champion by knocking him out was proven wrong. Indeed very few if any meaningful blows were landed the entire fight.

Fury didn't out class him. He lack of classed him.

The old adage….is that why Klitschko won 3 rounds max on most people’s scorecards. The champion got beat badly.

It’s not like it was a fluke either, Fury changed his style to please the fans with a more come forward style and won a World Title.

Fury did win, but I think what is being suggested is it was a poor performance as a fight. Not much happened.

I dont dislike Fury. I sort of like him. I respect his talent. But that fight was awful.

There should have been a rematch. Maybe a fight would have broken out.

But it was not to be which is somewhat disgraceful in and of itself.

The situation got under Vlads craw to the point he'd take a rematch with Fury today even though he is 67 years old. ;)

Fury changed his style going into Wilder 2. It was the right gameplan to beat Wilder.

It's also harder for boxers to fight a stick and move style as they age.

Look at Ali later in his career. He wasnt dancing anymore. If he was, it was for a minute to show off. They say the legs are the first to go and it is usually true.

“Fury changed his style going into Wilder 2. It was the right gameplan to beat Wilder.”

There’s not many boxers that win two separate world titles with two totally separate styles, one being a nullifying genius and the other a juggernaut.

That’s a testament to Fury’s ability to adapt and who’s to say in his young hungry years that he wouldn’t be an absolute nightmare for any heavyweight that’s ever boxed.

Yes. A give Fury is due. He is a talented guy and has a good ring IQ. There's no quit in him.

But that fight with Klitschko was dreadful more categorized by inaction than anything else. Neither one did much. Fury landed more flicking jabs but spent the fight avoiding engagement.

If that was the first HW fight I'd ever watched I'd probably never watch another.

There should have been an immediate rematch for the good of the sport.

It’s a shame the rematch never happened.

Ali is near enough the same size as Usyk 6'3 with a 78 inch reach

So it don't make much sense to me when an Ali sized opponent in Usyk beat Fury pretty clearly twice.

To add to this, not only are they so similar in size Ali was slicker on his feet, had quicker hands, hit harder and was stronger.
Usyk’s punch output is hard to match at heavy though.
Also, Ali rarely threw body shots, which I’ve always thought are important against fury. Chest and body shots keep him under control

I respect every poster but... just no.
I thought the Fury hype bubble - which was in overdrive after the Whyte fight - had been well and truly burst by Usyk. But it seems there are still some believers? The way to hype him now is to simply raise the bar of the man who beat him convincingly, twice...
Fury simply does not have the depth of resume to convince me that he is good enough to beat a variety of different styles and fighters. Ali and Lewis do. We need evidence not conjecture. I find the original post quite farcical if I'm being totally honest. Fury has tried to talk his way into ATG status far more than he has tried to fight his way into it

What a dumb thread. These lame attempts at 'hot takes' are pointless.
