exactly. No point in lifting max numbers rifght before sparring and the fight. That stuff is done early in camp and like you said, taper off into boxing exercises.... sparring, speed bag, heavy bag, etc

trust me.. that stuff can also put muscle mass on you... i challenge you guys that question it... find some 20oz gloves and shadow box for 12 rounds.... hell, try 6 rounds keeping hands up at all times and punching, your arms, shoulders and back will be BURNING... its not easy:deal

I agree that bodybuilding is not what a fighter wants, but just common sense tells us that less fat and he will move better, better stamina and possibly even more power with slightly better muscle mass... just all around better.. I think you would agree with that:thumbsup

Kinda funny to me that Fury rips Wlad for "fighting fat blobs".... has he looked in a mirror:huh.....

on a serious note... heavy roller coster in weight is really bad for you. He really needs to understand that he should be following a nutrition plan all year not just in camp. He is a pro boxer, he needs to work all tear in his profession not just for 8 weeks 2-3 times a year

Shadow boxing improves your stamina. It teaches your shoulders to last longer, basically. It does not build muscle.
Wlad's Bench press result is incredible with such long arms. And it has some relation to hitting- works same muscles.
I don't know how Tyson is going to contribute dead lift with hitting power...
In the end of the day speed is what matters in boxing. Faster youmove your hand more power you extract toyour opponent. And conditioning in a 12 round bouts, obviously. Max weights in bench press/ squat / dead lift don't matter.

What do you mean? A punch is generated by the power in your hips and glutes, thsts exactly what deadlifting works on, especially sumo deadlifts

Bench press has absolutely nothing to do with punching power, or really any sporting activity. Mostly it just attributes to a nice beach body, giving u big chest and biceps/triceps.

Exactly!! Fury's physique says he isn't really dedicated except maybe when in camp a few weeks per year..the rest of the time he lives like a slob binging on boose and macdonalds.

Bench press works most of the muscles you use in punching. It is same manouver as you do hitting someone.

Deadlift helps you to lift big weights and get big butt but it will not help you punch stronger/quicker.

Yes, most of the power in punching is generated from mid-section and your body presence with your shoulder area strength supporting that and Arm muscle mass providing F=ma effect. But that's technique and muscle balance and boxers do a lot of work for that. Deadlift certainly is not the most popular excerise to develope that area...

Id need to see some sources and research to back up your claim, because everything you say is all disproven bro science garbage

There is a reason why the deadlift is called the king of excercises, while the bench press only appeals to martial arts movie buffs, and gym beginners

Well all I say is based on my personal experience on boxing as boxer so I will not be arguing with internet geeks who do not know anything about how boxers train in general.
