This content is protected "18 stone 6 today." If that's true, he might be in the low 250's by the time he fights Usyk. Was expecting him to come in light but not that light.
Even though he'll still outweigh Usyk by up to 30 lbs., it looks like he's not going to rely on his Wilder strategy and instead will look to match Usyk speed-for-speed.
Great news, dropping down all this weight especially considering how fragile he's look lately, is going to shift Usyk winning by KO from a possibility to a probability.
Could actually backfire. He'll never be as quick as Usyk despite his weight loss and the lean and smother tactic would have worked much better on the 6'3", 220 lbs Usyk than when he tried it on the 270 lbs Ngannou.
Boxing is about versatility, mentality and physicality especially at HW Fury could come in heavier but then he can't adapt. If he comes in light he isn't limited. The biggest hurdle for both Fury and Usyk is to not be injured. Both have busted joints which cannot be fixed. Both are trying to find 80% form and that percentage ticks down every month they age. You can see in all of Fury's videos how he's protecting his elbows. The way he throws punches has changed. Usyk has hid off his training but he did show that video probably on purpose of him looking very soft to the body.
Good idea from Fury to come in light. Hes better on his feet with range, then trying to walk down a master boxer like Uysk.
It’s his best chance. If Fury’s speed coupled with his length isn’t enough, he wont beat him by being slower with less stamina. If Fury’s opponent was a flatfooted guy coming for war and Fury wanted the durability and strength to withstand the war and hurt the bully then coming in bigger and slower might make sense.
I think he dropped most of it in January, because he looked lean already in the photos he posted in early February. Might have been that he lost weight too quickly and felt weak and therefore slashed his eyebrow. That gave him three more months which should give him time to stabilise.
