And then certain people here will claim that Fury did so because he is scared of Whyte. Which is an utterly laughable concept in and of itself.
Hearn will get Whyte a pointless rematch before the long-awaited fourth fight with Wilder takes place.
Knowing Fury, the first four of these could be his training camp for Whyte if he doesn't perceive Whyte as a threat and doesn't take the fight seriously.
I must admit i see Fury as having underachieved in the division, he has all the physical attributes, a skillset that is very effective, a quickly rebootable brain should he get hit hard, and a good gas tank. Fury could have created a boxing record as champ that would have been comparable to any former champion of the division, as he when fit and focused is quite literally head and shoulders above any of the others at heavyweight in last few years. Sadly for all his talk of being a fighting man, he has no desire to actually fight unless it is a big big bout, him and full training camp are not buddies, oh he can talk hell yeah, he loves that, but fisticuffs with non champs is not his wish. I fear that Whyte is not enough motivation for Fury to have full training camp, i have no interest in hearing that he beat Whyte or whoever despite not being fully fit, i want the Champion of the World to be like Marciano or Dempsey when they defended the title, fit, focused and trained to perfection. I believe Usyk and/or AJ can avoid the behemoth known as Fury if they bide their time, as i can't see Fury hanging around waiting for them, as waiting will mean he will need to make other defences against contenders, that is not in Furys plan.
