Furys lack of power

Hell no, 7.5 is like Joe Frazier/Tim Witherspoon/Mike Weaver/etc. Show me the Fury fights where he displays punching power on that level.

But to answer your question, if he fought anyone below about 200 I'd rate him higher in the absolute sense obviously.

 

Fair. I thought he displayed some serious power in Wilder 2 but perhaps that had more to do with Wilder's durability.

My scale would be:

10: Lewis, Foreman, Shavers, Wilder etc.
9.5: Louis, Tyson
9: Ruddock, Cooney (primarily one handed punchers)
8.5: Marciano
8: Witherspoon, Frazier

 

I think Fury has ENOUGH power to keep opponents honest so they can't just bulldoze their way through him. But he obviously doesn't have AJ/Wlad type power.

 

Fury has some kind of power, but not as much as he should have given his size...
