Since we already know Fury and ESPN are going to avoid any decent fighter and make sure they get 5 bum opponents who pose no threat to their £80m 5 fight deal. Who do you think they will pick Furys 5 next opponents will be?
I don't believe he can pull that due to contract stipulations. His first opponent will be a pushover, but a level above his abysmal 2 comeback fights, and then I guess it's a decent opponent before trying for the Wilder (if he still holds the WBC belt) rematch in the 3rd fight.
You have no clue what the contract stipulations are. And you really think ESPN are going to risk their investment and let him get beat within the first 2 fights? He is going to fight very beatable people or over the hill boxers.
It's a two edged blade. If they would only let him fight 4 or 5 pushovers they won't get even close to their investment back. They have to put him in fights the public will tune in for. Of course there's the risk of a loss, but they need him to be in high profile fights for that kinda money, so pretty sure it's in the contract he can't fight Pianeta type opposition until the end of his contract.
It'll likely only be ESPN/Warren affiliated fighters as anyone not will ask for far too much $ given that everyone knows he's ESPN's new cash cow (they hope and prey) given that it's common knowledge that Fury will be looking to make 80-100 million dollars over the course of those 5 fights. Whyte seems to be looking to line himself up as opponent 4 prior to hopefully a unification bout in fight number 5. I can see Cojanu being rolled out for an early match up as long as Dubois doesn't brutalise him, as he'll be pitched as a former title challenger blah, blah, blah. Andy Ruiz and Bryant Jennings seem like pretty obvious choices given they're known to the American market and wouldn't be too bad I suppose but, can't see them taking too many risks prior to hopefully the Wilder rematch or unification. One problem I envisage though regarding the Wilder rematch will be if Wilder leaves Finkel for DAZN, given Wilders over emotional state, is he going to want to be Playing to Tysons tune now the Gypsy King sees himself as the 'A side' in any future Superfight match ups.
Why do people create threads and just start off sounding like total douchebags? Makes you sound REALLY smart and knowledgeable..
The big issue he has if Wilder goes to Dazn is ESPN don’t have many upcoming heavyweights they can build up and sell as a meaningful opponent. I have a feeling they will get him 2 knockovers then try to build him into the WBO mandatory which is why I think they were going for Whyte. They would then put an exception in for a higher split for the Joshua fight. They know the Wilder fight is always sellable down the line
