You never know with Fury but I don't think he loves boxing as much as he used to

"I am the greatest heavyweight champion of my era, without a doubt. Number one. If you play with fire long enough you will get burned."

I think he's content being seen the best of his era and doesn't care to climb up the all time ranks. I'm sure he might want to unify but I don't think he gives a bullocks about fighting his mandatory in Whyte Wallin winner next specially after how the first Wallin fight went.

People say this after every Fury bout. He will obviously not retire now.

    Bricking it from Usyk, clearly.

You know it's Tyson Fury we're talking about. He'll say this today, tomorrow he'll say he'll fight Joshua and Usyk in the one night next week if they want it. You can't take half of what he says as literal, it's part of why he is so elusive...and a special character to some, an annoyance to others.

    Nonsense

I didn't see anything in the presser to support that argument.

I think he was genuine about wanting to take a break. That's as much as I'd read into it.

I watched the whole thing and do not have that impression.

Pretty much. If he wins that fight uncontroversially then he can truly call himself the number one heavyweight on the planet and retire no problems. Right now that's a claim he can't make.

Did you see the part about only spending 2 weeks at home with his wife and kids including a newborn daughter in the past 6 months?

The press pack ask this stuff to drive some headlines. The smart move is to straight bat it all back and leave the fight building talk for the time when it's going to make the most impact. That's what Fury did, the smart move.

People aren't always themselves after taking a lot of blows to the head.

Fury seemed a little dejected, likely both from the trauma and from a perceived underperformance. Mostly though he just wants to get home and get to bed, I feel.

Not in a million years is Fury scared of fighting Usyk, however the money will have to be big enough to make it worth him risking his legacy, which it never will be because Usyk has zero profile in professional boxing. He would make more money fighting Wilder again or Joshua.

Ah apologies, assumed you'd seen it. Have a look here and see what the man himself said:
