I happen to like Fury a lot and feel he is a courageous guy but really don't know where to rank him .. he essentially decisioned a painfully slow old Klitschko and twice beat Deontae Wilder .. in both victories over Will;der he was allowed to hang his huge weight all over the lighter man to wear him out ... putting aside I'm not even sure that should have been allowed, then yesterday I hear Stallone being interviewed and saying Fury is the best ever at heavyweight , just as he's signing him to be part of his Expendables franchise .. I don't know ... I see a lot pop match ups being competitive for sure .. prime Lewis, Bowe, Ali, Holmes, Holyfield ... I honestly feel if Usyk fights him and Fury does not lay all over him Usyk can outfight him ... we will see ... no knock on Tyson as I admire his guts for sure ..

If Fury can win both matches he's in the top 20 for sure and is the best heavyweight in the last five years. I see him as lacking ring magazine rated opponents beaten in their prime, a standard that goes back for all nearly 100 years ago which can be used for anyone. I recommend Cliff Rold a young historian who absolutely tore the roof off on this stuff and his article in ring magazine. This was no easy research! It took him 3 years. In the multi part article he gives a record for everybody including several heavyweights. I tweaked used his work as a gold standard as I fell that Ring Magazine offers the best ratings and the best historical ratings. No- they aren't prefect but they are the best around.

Saying their resumes are comparable and purposefully omitting Byrd’s losses is akin to applying for a job and saying your resume is comparable to the guy who got the job over you … when you left off your criminal convictions.

Stopped reading when you said Wladmir was "fired up and motivated" for the Fury fight. That was a classic example of a gunshy old fighter, a toothless neutered dog.

    Not an exaggeration at all.

Who cleanly outboxed Tua besides Lennox Lewis...? I mean if the only other comparison is a 6'5 skilled monster whose anywhere from top 5 to top 10 in the division then that says a lot.

The original point was that the Tua win certainly stacks up to Fury's 2nd tier wins against guys like Chisora or Whyte.

I should have wrote best wins vs best wins.

Now that the clarification has been made (multiple times), feel free to point out the flaw in the comparison. Are Fury's
best wins truly much better than Byrd's...? It's a yes or no question.

I wasn't trying to help him.

He's gone from underrated to overrated in recent years.

Difference is that Fury will get in the IBHOF at some point and Byrd wont, which is unfortunate since I like Chris Byrd as a fighter and find him to be a very underrated. I personally think he deserves to be in it.

Vitali is definitely better than Wilder.

And I'm not buying Byrd got lucky there at all. He was winning, and Vitali quit due to an injury he got from Byrd making him miss.

Not only that, but Tua is better than Wilder and Chisora.

How are the Chisora or Whyte wins better than Tua? Tua would be the obvious favorite over either one and you could say he had a better career too.

Was the gunshy 40 year old Wladmir a bigger h2h threat than the Hoylfield Byrd beat?

Is a younger Vitali truly better than Wilder? We had a pretty heated debate on this very forum about who has the better resume even after Vitali bounced back from the Byrd loss. Many people were split on the issue. Wilder arguably had a better record and is arguably a greater h2h threat (at least a greater threat than the Vitali Byrd beat).

1-Debatable. Vitali had better fundamentals and a better chin, but Wilder was faster and hit much harder. Their resumes are very close.

2-I agree. It certainly wasn't 1 sided until the rotator cuff injury.

3-We can debate Tua vs Wilder all day, but my point was Byrd convincingly beat Tua who you agree is better than Chisora (arguably Fury's 3rd best win), so that doesn't help Fury at all.
