Fury's win over Wladimir better than any win of Mike Tyson?

You can say that Wlad was better than the version of Larry that Mike fought. But you have to look at all of the factors involved:

    Fury was bigger than Wlad.

Wlad had looked poor in his previous fight.

    Their fight was lacklustre.

Mike was small in comparison to Larry.

Mike was the only person to knock Larry out in his whole career, that spanned 3 decades, culminating in 75 fights.

Whilst Larry had been inactive and he was faded, he wasn't shot, as he proved afterwards against Mercer and a peak Evander in the 90's.

Ray Mercer wasn't a bum. He was a decent fighter and many people think he beat Lennox.

If Holmes was WAY more shot, how come he was a very solid top 10ish HW for the next decade after the loss, and fringe contender until he finally retired at 50 y/o.:huh

mike ko'd holmes when he was 38 and had never been stopped. fury and wlad basically stared at each other for twelve rounds. this easily goes to mike tyson.

Tyson beat a clearly past it Larry Holmes, and Fury did the same to Wlad, so on that they are on par.
After that Tyson's resume is clearly deeper, with guys like Tucker, Bruno 2x, Smith and Ruddock 2x.

Tyson knocked people out. Fury is content to throw 10 punches a round and just cruise to a boring UD.

Do you honestly think Mike Tyson would have just sat back like Fury did with a guy in front of him that refused to throw punches? Fury landed 7.1 punches a round. It was a disgrace.

Um no they aren't the same. Tyson savagely stalked and KOed Holmes. Fury threw 10 punches a round.

the prime version of Tony Tucker that Mike Tyson fought would beat any version of Vladimir Klitschko, let alone the 40-year-old version that Fury beat.

I know, but how do you expect current Wlad would do against that level? I think about the same or even better

Yes, but judging by which opponent was superior and more significant at the time, it's clearly Klitschko.

Beating 10-years reigning undisputed champion Klitschko is way more significant and a bigger victory than beating former champ Larry Holmes after 2 years of retirement and 2 back-to-back losses.
