If 8 years after he dethroned Vladimir Klitschko making his 18th world title defense, Tyson Fury finished his career with the following WILDER KO WILDER KO WHYTE KO JOSHUA KO USYK KO Despite Ballooning up to 28 stone and spending 3 years out of the ring with severe drink, drugs, and mental health problems, could even the biggest hater on this forum deny that he's the greatest of this Era and a true Heavyweight top 10 ATG?
He also had a mandatory rematch with Wlad which he ducked by going off the rails for 2-3 years with drugs and booze.
Undoubtably the best HW of his time & top 15 HW ATG if Fury beat Usyk, an AJ win doesn't mean much to me.
If he KOs AJ and Usyk, then it would be very difficult to dispute his status as the greatest HW of his era because he would have dethroned all of the other champions. Where he would be in the ATG standings is another story. First off, his era is a bit weak, which of course isn't his fault. But perhaps more significant is that he hasn't fought nearly as much as many of the other HW ATGs. Joe louis had 69 fights, ali 61, foreman 81, holyfield 57, mike tyson 58. (Perhaps you could argue they all fought a few fights at the end that they probably shouldn't have.) Fury has had 33 fights. Being an ATG shouldn't simply mean you're the most talented ever. You need to have the resume to back it up, which should include a large quantity of quality wins. Even if Fury KOs AJ and Usyk, would you say that he has a large quantity of quality wins? The answer may be debatable, but I would say no. Perhaps he's at a disadvantage because his era is a bit weak, but that doesn't mean he couldn't stay busy fighting some of the more respectable contenders out there. Instead, he's now insisting on retiring after every fight until a large enough paycheck comes his way. This is not indicative of an ATG.
Oh, come on, those bull*hit with ducking Wlad - why ducking him when he took almost all of the rounds and I am not talking abot the judges inadequacy and/or corruption, he mocked at Wlad the entire fight. What would Klitschko have done differently in a second fight - nothing. It's a bit early to talk about Fury's legacy. Will do it once he definitely stops boxing.
Kronk Fury would put a hole in any version of Wlad. Fury gave him too much respect in their first bout. He embarrassed him either way. What Fury does to AJ is what he should have done to Wlad. Put it on the robots and chin them when they're tired.
HW is a historically weak division, you had 2, maybe 3, decades stacked with talent in the past 100 years. It doesn't does a resume loaded with great wins to make it on the ATG HW list.
I mean, we are counting chickens here. He has got to fight and win those fights, first. Right now, his legacy is is pretty weak sauce. He is at a sort a crossroads...a few good wins and he really has dominated his albeit weak era. Without those, he is no more than Bowe, Norton, Patterson, Witherspoon, Walcott...
