mungiuia would be a much more competitive fight, even though I think he still ends up getting stopped. And then you can give munguia to canelo
Canelo is getting too comfortable with Matchroom/DAZN. I don't like PBC but there is better opponents there. Whether you like it or not JermAll DOES have a following, and is a 2-division champ (which doesn't mean a whole lot and shouldn't be confused with being a unified 2-belt champ which still carries weight even in AD2023 imo). Likewise Benavidez is perceived by many to be a threat @ 168. If a resurgent Plant sparks him then Canelo will either have to grant him the rematch or start dropping belts. I don't mind Ryder as a post-surgery, Mexico homecoming fight, because Ryder has been putting in work over here, but Ryder is the absolute last of these non-elite contenders I'm willing to accept. Canelo is starting to push past his prime but he could still put in some work like Oscar and Floyd did towards the end of their careers. JermEll catchweight superfight. Spence catchweight superfight. Instead he's still chasing this 175 stuff, when he looked completely out of his depth last time, and he seems like he can't accept that 175 has run out of old Kovalevs. I'm beginning to wonder if Cinnamon is becoming legitimately deluded. I just don't see how he beats Bivol outside of a robbery. Floyd probably could've beaten a few of the weaker middleweight champs, but he knew his limitations. Canelo doesn't, and neither is he this Duran/Pac-like figure who can take a few Ls if it means bagging a big W down the road Berlanga has 16 knockouts in the 1st round in a row... then goes the distance for his next 4 fights. Call me Sherlock Holmes, but this is a textbook cancrusher. How's Eddie going to step him up? I don't mind Canelo taking this fight if it's bookended by real competition, but who's to say the Matchroom/DAZN propaganda machine won't go into overdrive hyping this up and use it as one of Canelo's May 5th/September 16th fights? idk about you guys but Canelo's career has become very boring very quickly. Maybe he's just run out of low-hanging fruit Canelo was at his peak during his free agency. Bollocks to this
Mateo Tapia is going to burst this bubble before he even gets a look in with the Cinnamon scroll. @Sandman_
Went on a nice 16 first round KO streak to kick off his career. And he faced some decent opposition during the run, while himself looking like a capable boxer and not just a power punching fiend. Hype started dying off when he went the distance in a highly competitive fight with Coceres, which is a shame since Coceres is actually a really good boxer. But Berlanga lost more steam as he went the distance with Rolls and Alexis Angulo while not looking all that special. No one asked whats with all the hype, when Berlanga was KTFO fools. Now that he has gone the distance again and again, I see this question all the time. Funny thing that.
