Tyson Fury is young and fairly new to the sport so we can't jump to any conclusions yet, though he has already beaten Micheal Hunter (the US representative for the Beijing olympics I believe?) and has a silver medal at the junior world championships.

The current "next" champion is Povetkin.....everyone knows that I have been preaching that for a long time now. The future of the division could be Eric Fields. That guy has looked absolutely electric the last few times I have seen him. In the heavyweight division anything can happen though; guys seem to like to disappear into obscurity in this division. I would like to see Eric Fields in the ring against a live body before I "officially" label him as the future, but so far he looks like he will be a real force. Amazing speed and explosive power in a gifted athlete that takes his trade seriously (I have heard he's a gym rat to boot). He's currently at light heavy but he is absolutely ripped and could transition to heavy

My crystall ball tells me that Alexander Povetkin, Odlanier Solis, David Haye, Denis Boytsov, Eric Fields, Evans Quinn, Mike Perez, Michael Hunter and Islam Timurziev are the heavyweight future.

I reckon Chris Arreola is a guy to watch closely in the next few years...

Obviously Peter and Povetkin will be alphabet champions in the next few years. I'm also pretty sure, that the economic powers-that-be will arrange for a champion from the USA. Therefore my bet is on Tony Thompson or Eddie Chambers collecting some vacant title soon.

And before the next generation is ready, watch for Gomez, Golota and Virchis in title fights, maybe even Skelton again.
