What are some good oppponents for Haye to get in the heavyweight mix?

I personally would like to see him fight another journyman thats a bit better than Bonin. For him to get another feel at heavyweight.

Then a future possible opponent, id pick one of these guys:

    Oliver McCall
    Sinan Sam
    Hasim Rahman
    Lamon Brewster
    Shannon Briggs
    Calvin Brock

Id like to see Haye v McCall tbh with you. A hard puncher v a hard chin. :deal

Anyways, I know Haye is taking some time off, but who do you think he should fight to get into a title mix in the heavyweight division?

Man **** those guys on that list, put him straight in with someone like Ibragimov, Virchis, Povetkin, or Valuev straight away. No need to fight anyone who should be retired, he is unified CW champ with the confidence to take a tough fight straight away so why waste time fighting has-beens. He should be fighting someone top 10 guaranteed, if not it is a disappointment and nothing else. Let's get the ball rolling here, we have suffered through enough mismatches, we need all the competitive fights we can get, especially when a supposed champ like Chagaev is trying to fight Luan ****ing Krasniqi

No way, McCall is too old and not a serious contender. Haye would damage him, McCall's chin would mean that he would soak up round after round of punishment and risk serious injury.

The only hope McCall would have is to hope his chin can carry him through to the later stages, where he can catch a fatigued haye and score a KO, but i think thats unlikely.

I'd like to see Haye fight the winner of Danny Williams - James Toney, preferably James Toney. I've just been thinking of it in another thread, it would be a good test for Haye it would show us how skilled he is at heavyweight. If that cant be arranged then he should go straight in and get some old heavyweight with some name recognition, there's plenty to choose from; Golota, Ruiz, Rahman, Briggs or Brewster would be just fine.

****ing right irlandsk ... why do we the fans have to fork out a fortune to see a PPV when it is obviously a mismatch, david clearly has the self belief,i just hope that his manager has the same and is willing to put him in with a top 10 immediately ... after all it is one of david's favorite facts that he blasted out the WBC no.11 hw in just 1 round, surely a natural progression for him would be to tackle the top 10?

Exactly right. It's drives me mad that people think it's reasonable for Haye to fight Toney, McCall, Rahman, Briggs, or even Danny Williams for ****s sake. Here we finally have a guy who is seemingly willing to inject some life into the the talented HW's that are out there but busy fighting people like Matt Skelton and Evander Holyfield, and some are asking him to do the exact same thing (fight washed up "names").
Haye doesn't need that bull****, there is quite a few really interesting match ups to be made now and we need to move those old names out of there, their time is up.
The next year or two at HW could be great if we have the top 10 0r 12 guys only fighting within that group, especially if Solis can stop eating and get himself into the mix.

Bonin is crap! He shouldn't have been ranked that high in the first place auldrey harrison beat him yes the same auldrey harrison that everyone calls a usless bum (double standards). Haye is a good hw prospect that shouldn't be rushed.

People have got to choose, either auldrey is a legit a heavy contender as haye or else bonin is a poor boxer. I think haye will go far and he is very good for boxing though.

For Haye's first 2-3 fights, he needs to adjust and get used to his new weight.

bigreg, why don't you go cook yourself up a big philly cheese steak, hold the sauce, stick on a tape of cunningham, have a good old fashioned wank and just lay it all over the steak.

it would be much more productive than you posting on esb.
