Axe posts regarding Dawson were absolutely spot on. Dirrel has shown a lot of flaws in the ring, and is very unpolished. Comparing him to Bute and Dawson at this stage, who are far more proven and far more polished is just silly. Especially in the case of Dawson, who is a top p4p fighter. Ward is better than Dirrell, and could in time definitely compete with the likes of Froch and Bute, and stand a solid chance at winning. However once again he is still developing and as such needs time to do just that. Some people in this thread are getting WAY ahead of themselves, and are getting excited about a fighter like Dirrell because of his handspeed, without taking note of his noticable technical flaws, and suspect intangibles.
Good post everyone. I knew this would stir the pot because SM is such a deep division. As far as I'm concerned Kessler is the king right now. As for Bute being able to outbox dirrel easy, All I can do is laugh at that. Dirrel is too fast and sharp to be outboxed by anyone easily. I like how Bute slips in big shots to the body and works his jab but I think dirrell's jab will take over bute's jab and turn bute into a stalker which he isn't. I think bute would be all out of his element and his chin would put to the test. Bute has some very underated footwork that I've been very impressed with but I think Dirrel can move with him and beat him at his own game. Dirrel does have a problem with backin straight up and that could be a problem but does Bute have the power to knock him out. Dirrel is hard to read because he's so confident that he looks like he's playing around. Either way I'd love to see both of the southpaws go at it. Dirrel's speed and sharp pun As for Froch. Dirrel would work him with speed that he's never seen in his life. Plus Dirrel can throw some mean short shots in close. If Abraham and Pavlik come up then it's gonna get real deep in the Weightclass.
We lost him, Darren Sutherland. Him and James Degale would have brought the titles to Britain and Ireland
I can second that. Darren Sutherland R.I.P., would have had a real crack at it. Watch out for the Cuban, Luis Garcia
