Try not to think of this as their 5th fight, try think of this as the 2 all time best fwt`s on their very best nights vs each other. Most would say that Pep was a tad more past his prime than Saddler when they fought yet still beat him once others would say that prime vs prime wont matter as Sandy had Willie`s number. Pep saw off sanchez 12 votes to 8 Saddler saw off arguello 10 votes to 6. This poll will last 2 days then onto the LWT`s. I`ll get my bit in later.
Peak for peak, it is reasonable to pick Pep, of course. But I have voted for Saddler - given what we know it's a vote the other way that I think need to be explained.
My view is that the last 2 fights were not solid proof that saddler had pep`s number as they were fights full of injuries & fouls, not to mention pep being even further past his best. saddler won fight 1 fair & square & pep won fight 2 fair & square. At their peak I lean towards pep in a close defensive masterclass of boxing (not without his lumps & bumps mind you as sandy could hit some) but it would be close. I dont see saddler ko`ing a peak pep, he just wouldnt be there to be hit often enough & its hard to see any FWT outpointing pep in his prime. Pep W15 Saddler
