One of my favorite things about ESB is getting input from fans around the globe. I've learned a lot and would like to return the favor.

A lot of posters have pointed to the numerous debacles by the Texas boxing commission and indicated that they are representative of boxing in America as a whole. That is not the case. Even American fight fans roll their eyes when the phrase "in Texas" is utterred.

My first "Texas sucks" moment came when Pernell Whitaker was robbed against JCC. Over the years, Texas has had many other lowlights, including Paulie vs. Diaz and any event judged by Gale Von Hoye.

America is not perfect and there will always be some questionable cards/refs in boxing, but please try to seperate the actions of the Texas commission from those in the rest of the country.

Texas is as much its own country culturally from the U.S. as Canada is.

That said, don't say the entire state's screwed up because of the actions of their athletic commission.

To be fair, so did New York. However, it was Texas that opened the door for Margo to return to the U.S.

Texas is complete and utter **** I agree. Obviously this is not representative of EVERY Texan. But for the most part, Texans are under the false impression that they are more patriotic than everyone else, yet they contribute **** and are sometimes leeches. You can see the corruption through boxing especially. There are also vigilantes that pick off unarmed Mexicans crossing the border. Finally, Texans are generally uneducated and racists.

I live next to Texas and think it's a joke, too. Texas is the US's whipping boy. Worst drivers in the country, and easily has one of the most insane state governments.

San Antonio and Austin aren't shitholes, I suppose, but I bet even Michigan has a decent town in it somewhere... Maybe.

I was strictly talking about boxing. No need to go anywhere near a lot of what you put up.

Agreed. But the Texas boxing commission has had a lot of issues and I just wanted to put this out there.

OK Mr. high and mighty-- than perhaps you should change the title of your thread. I'm merely stating the obvious.
