I'm not downplaying anything, I'm simply giving the guy the benefit of the doubt until a proper account of the situation comes to light. I'm a huge Cotto fan BTW, so I'm no Margarito defender.

    First:

Tito's wraps are not illegal in any way or form. Papa Thrinidad wraps the hand exactly as the rules indictates, excatly..BHop was using that as a distraction to the Trinidad, not that he needed it, but he played that card anyway.....No if anyone is know to take advantage or strtching the rules of boxing is BHop

    Second:

The thread was to be used in an educational way, not as a bias thread.

    Third:

The Margo issue not only included illegal substances but more than the required amount of gauze

    Fourth:

Margarito, if is true cheated blountly and with malice

In regard to your first point: I've heard a lot of contradictory accounts of that situation so I pesonally think it's difficult to reach a conclusion on that one but I have no problem with anyone picking a side as I think some strong arguments can be made for both sides.

In regard to your second point: fine

In regard to your third point: That is completely unclear at this point. It looks like there could be a problem with Margs wraps (whether that is extra gauze or plaster) but we don't know for sure yet.

In regard to your fourth point: yes, that is blatently cheating and ****ing low if it turns out to be true.

tito was forced t rewrap his hands because they used to much tape
they were applying a layer of tape then a layer of gauze back and forth
this will definitely harden and it was illegal

As long as you use 1 roll of tape and do not tape across the knucles , and x tape between the fingers, you potentially could have two layers of tape...but very hard to do with one roll of tape...

yea i'm not exactly sure if they were covering the knuckles or not
but i'm pretty sure they were using at least 2 rolls of tape
it was a while back so i'd have to try and find some old clips i think the new series of legendary nights had this fight and they elaborated on the wraps and that this was the way papa trinidad had always wrapped him
as far as marg goes i just hope it is not as bad as it looks

Of course you can ****ing blame them. Between ignorance and relying on a commission of suits and talking heads (i.e. not fighters) they sent Cotto out to take a potentially life altering beating.

Puerto Rico has at least as long a fighting tradition as Philadelphia. A Philly trainer shouldn't be the only man on earth capable of identifying illegal wraps.

I will say this, and I will get crucufied..but **** it...Phylly "HAD" great tought fighters at the world class level, it was not know for having great trainers, but great tought fighters, the Phylly sparing session are legendary..but whn it comes to trainers, legendary trainers, Puerto Rican trainers are arguably the best in the world......arguably..if not at the top, nearly closee to it....when it comes to techinque, understanding boxing fundamentals, training technique and above all, planning a boxing game plan....breaking down the opponent....etc
